Regarding your question, I probably have a slight decrease in mileage but nothing overly noticeable. Also now that I have swapped the hardtop back on I probably would not run both the hardtop and roof rack together. Although the roof rack is slighlty lighter than the hardtop, combining both...

extra rear window switch Ok so I picked up an extra factory rear window switch (3 terminal) from the junkyard. I tapped blue/white wire from relay to the "down" terminal on the switch, blue/black wire to the "up" terminal on the switch and the white/black wire to ground on the switch. Bingo...

thanks Blind C! The wheels were actually the first thing I swapped out. I sold them for cheap on CL. I think I let them go for $150 with good 30" tires.

so I was tinkering in the garage last night and I found some small rectangular shaped foglights in one of my parts bins. I was trying to figure out how I could use them. The amber lights on my winch bumper were useless they operate as blinkers only. Those of you that have 1st gen 4runners know...

Thanks Willie, im really enjoying the truck. I find myself starring at it sometimes wondering what else I can do to it. I just put the hardtop back on yesterday and boy do I miss the versatility of the softtop already. The hardtop is better in the rain though!

Thanks for posting that up I think I ran across that thread on one of my many searches. I really think my issue is related to a loose wire or bad connection. Sometimes when I get the click I reach under the dash and grab the harness and move it around then try to crank and the truck starts.

I have 2 used scepter cans that im not using...one in olive drab and one in tan. I planned to use them on my tire swing to replace the metal jerry cans I have but my locking latch didnt work on them as they are slightly bulkier than the metal cans. why 33s and not 32s?

I faced this dilemna recently..I had 32 bfg a/t's on my 1st gen 4runner...stock height. I have since regeared to 4.88's. I had no rubbing problems but the tires always seemed about an inch too small for the truck visually. I lucked out and found a local on craigslist that wanted to swap their...

its been about a week since I removed that extra relay and soldered the wires back to factory. Have not had any problems yet. Thanks for that tip on the ford relay Ridebmx, if for some reason the problem persists I will loook into that.

just wanted to provide a quick update on this....after putting the new starter and ignition switch I started getting the intermittent no crank no start again. Was very bummed so I decided to remove the air duct underneath the dash to see what was going on. I discovered a relay and some wires...

Intermittent No Start on a seperate note I have had an intermittent no crank no start after taking long trips with the truck hot, all I got was a single click. I tried banging the starter and messing with wiring, checking/cleaning wiring, grounds etc ....it would usually start after about 10-20...

Clay - I like the idea of a large recessed lockable storage. In fact I think I like it more than the cooler idea. thanks for posting that link! Knox - havent really noticed any drastic changes in MPG. The exo roof rack should fit with the hardtop in place. Although i have not had the hardtop in...

When you say auxiliary tank are you referring to fuel? If so, no plans for that at the moment since I have two 5g fuel tanks on the tire swing. I removed the spare tire brackets and chain but the crossmember is still there. If I recall the crossmember is welded to the frame. I agree with you...

to cut or not to cut? I recently came across a Nautique in floor cooler insert. I was thinking of installing it in the bed of my 4runner. my concerns are: -Location - the frame crossmembers underneath the bed will only allow me to install it in the center about a foot behind the rear axle...

harder to explain than I thought ......but there is a hinged piece that comes down on top of the center gas can handles (mounted to the swing out ). The hinged piece has a place where I can put a lock through it so that it cannot be lifted up. pic attached....

finally got around to installing the MV50 i had laying around. I installed it under the passenger side floorboard to the frame and the slider helps protect it. I had to remove the handle for it to fit. I plan on adding some sort of skid plate for added protectection and to keep it from getting...
