Off road Jeep JKU Trailer Build

Adding fenders Tongue lengthened with pintle hook and fenders attached! I would like to frame out the edges with square tubing in the future but at least it is road worthy for now.:smiley_drive:

Off road Jeep JKU Trailer Build

Somehow it must have passed inspection without fenders. I wasn't too keen on the front wall not being solid and the lights being mounted on the tailgate. This could be a problem when towing something that requires the tailgate to be down.

Off road Jeep JKU Trailer Build

Past history I had an M-416 and a Bantam that I semi built before but came across this beauty for $150 about a year ago. The trailer came with a Jeep JK lug pattern and some bad *** 33" tires to match my tow vehicle but it needed some tweaks to even be road worthy. The prior owner went throught...

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

Sorry that it has been awhile since I posted any new progress. I truly have been working on it every few days. I scrapped the original walls because they were pissing me off. Too far gone to fix and just kept blowing holes through them with my little 110 welder. I decided that this is going to...

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

I took the sides off because I am still undecided over them and welded a new rear brace on the frame. I also welded the circular piece to the frame for the Bully jack that I will be using. Next I decided to begin the floor. I cut the 14 gauge sheet down to size and began to weld it to the...

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

Thank you all. Arlo, I thought about not using the upper part because life would have much easier starting from new but again its kind of a personal goal to fix this against all odds. I also have always liked the contour of the sides and feel that is what sets these trailers apart from every...

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

Mark, I didnt like the original setup was about as long as it is now with just a bolt inbetween. Instead I used the 2 bolts on V bracket whic I feel was just as strong as the original setup.

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

I cut about an iinch aroung the entire tub to remove the rot. While I would love to be a purist and restore this trailer to it original specs, I decided to make it bolt on like an M-416. I only cleaned up the area that will be mounted to the frame for now.

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

After many days of work I got the entire frame and drivetrain to where I was happy with it. Having to redo the hitch part because of rotted metal made it a little shorter but still longer than original. I also cut off the rear most support for now.

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

I realized that the metal on the front was in bad shape so I modified it again. The landing leg was in great shape but the v-bracket was broken on the bottom so i could not lock the landing leg in the up position.

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

The original hitch on it was 1 7/8. I wanted a pintle and I also wanted to be able to remove it for safety or switch it with anything that fit inside the receiver. This seemed to be the best way and it made it longer than the original setup. I welded it even though I feel that the two original...

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

I bought new u-bolts and did a spring over lift when I put it together. The only real bad part of the frame was the rear most support. That is why in the pictures i haven't done anything with it yet.

    Bantam T3-C Hybrid Build

Hi everyone. I originally had a beautiful M-416 trailer that I spent alot of time on and then sold. I missed it so much that I searched almost daily to find another military type trailer. Here are 2 pics of my original:. I eventually found a Bantam trailer that was probably built in the 1940's...
