So minor update to this one. I've done a little work on Suburban HD but nothing pic worthy. Did make a new purchase possibly could be considered an "upgrade" of sorts. Wife's "new" car is 12 years old now and having some issues. Decided we needed something new for the family I didn't need to...
Looking forward to pics and what you do with it. I broke down and brought home a 2018 Colorado Z71 Duramax last Friday- also in black. Filled up first tank of fuel yesterday, hand calculated 25.5 mpg. Whole family loves this little pickup. :ylsmoke:
Best of Luck,
Mike
Testing PB pics active again...
Ended up buying a boat to spend time with family. spent all summer with wife and daughter out 4-5 days a week all summer long having family fun, catching lots of fish and chasing salmon, had an absolute blast. Haven't touched Suburban HD in months now, but...
Man these pics bring back fond memories of trips down that way searching back country for pictographs and other old wall art like that. Love that you're out there all the time with your family exploring and enjoying the land. Exactly what Suburban HD is supposed to do- if it ever gets...
I do- under "Project Suburban HD" but unfortunately photo bucket killed all the pics so nothing to see right now. I haven't yet figured out what or where to start a new account for images yet. Trying to see which one will work and be easy to use to file without issues.
Best of Luck,
Mike
Andrei-you nailed it here! My Suburban HD build has snowballed into this exact scenario- though I'm not upset but thrilled to see you living yours. I envy you. I have huge respect for the budget builds and mine started out exactly that way. Fortunately, or Un-fortunately depending on how you...
Wow, lots of interesting thoughts here. This is fact above.
G80 is a "limited slip"- period. It is NOT a locker. It will not lock as it cannot lock- it is a limited slip. Limited slips do not "engage", you cannot force them to engage, or "lock" as folks put it. It is actually just the...
I'm getting old and hard to see from pic but are those the new style 2015+ two row LED chevy side mirrors? Any issues fitting or wiring? I plan to do just that on my '97 Suburban HD build at some point.
Best of Luck,
Mike
Great pics. Which route did you take to Sugarloaf? Did MULE get a chance to open up their big Stevenson? (sp?) They've got some nice work into that rig. Was at their place last week prior to trip to Tillamook but it was still being prepped for trip to Plain so didn't get to see it out of the...
Burb guy here also- but go for a 2500 if you can find one- same drivetrain as in the 3500 trucks- depending on year, 454 Big block or 6.0 LS, 9.25 front diff instead of time bomb 8.25, 4l80e trans instead of 60 and if you find the right one- a full float 14 rear instead of time bomb 8.6...
Interested to see how this turns out for you. The 9.25s in the 2500s and 3500s hold up far better than the smaller 8.25 in the 1500s. They don't like Elock units but ARBs work well if you want traction. I recently gave a way mine to a buddy doing custom narrowed IFS setup with it using two...
Exactly. I went WAY overkill on my suspension-far more than originally intended, but just so happened on a deal I couldn't turn down and of course it snowballed... Regardless, to do an SAS right is not cheap. I really like the look of Tims kit- it should work great for 99% of the people out...
Wait what! You mean a properly build SAS can handle better than stock??? haha! ;)
what trans are you running? 40s would definitely suck on stock gears. 4.10 is bad enough on 33s with 4l80. 6 speed likes it as deep as you can go if you have one...
Best of Luck,
Mike
Ha! I do indeed! :) Just no time unfortunately. Lots of room for front suspension work now with engine gone but haven't had even a second to get to the shop and play. Next step in progress will be loose front axle assembly and mounting tires to maximize steer angles on lower links/frame...
