I know my 2015 510 and my friend's 2018 510 have slight differences. The window frame on the 2018 looks thicker, the overall size of the windows appear similar though. Not sure about other models. It'd be best to measure either way.

I forgot I made a prototype interior lock for my 510 last year until Gabe Pari (owner of SoCal) found my YouTube video and emailed me asking about it. Thought I'd share here. Pretty simple and works well. I told Gabe with better tools (his shop!) I'm sure it could be much nicer. Maybe he'll make...

The Eccotemp L5? Propane doesn't care that much about outside temp, mine runs fine below 32*F. The heater is sensitive to wind (safety feature) which can prevent ignition. Check out page 13 of the user manual for some troubleshooting tips...

Air chuck keeps popping off valve stem?

I had the same exact problem with my Viair compressor, it ended up preventing me from inflating my tires while on the trail, very frustrating. The problem was its ability to grip and stay attached, it wears out, and it no longer put air in. Rather than replacing the gauge/nozzle with another...

Chairs for men of substantial dimensions?

Agreed. It's big and heavy, but very comfortable and rated to 800 pounds: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001RLQNSO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tBjRCbKGNTBY7 We have two and love them.

Rotopax - Is there something better I should be using?

I ditched my four 2-gallon Rotopax after heat caused too much frustration: They swelled up in the mounts making them extremely difficult to screw off Once off the mounts the Rotopax tended to retain the new balloon shape making them difficult to reinstall They look really cool and are a good...

I had the same problem when I ordered mine in 2015. This thread didn't exist back then so I just put together a build and crossed my fingers. I would have changed a few things knowing what I know now. Modifications can always be made after the fact but it's nice to nail the build the first time...

    1) On my 510 one thing I would change is the front "cage." The fact that it's not fully enclosed ensures that everything in there gets very dusty or wet. It's a fantastic place to store bulky items (e.g., camp chairs) but, for example, if it rains while you're driving you're going to be sitting...

Anyone running an awning with truck topper?

I've been in love with the 2500 XL for years, gorgeous execution by AEV. You should check out the Kinsmen 270 awning. Seems like a proper hat for your beast. https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/270-deg-square-back.190248/page-3

Easy! A 270* awning that has some extra fabric formed to the hatch shape that became taught when the galley was opened; a way to remove the slack when the galley was closed with awning still deployed. Wait. Not so easy. Lol.

I saw this option tested by @No Ma, not sure how it's worked out long term: https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/socal-tear-drop-owners-post-up.143786/post-2341299 Something made specifically for a SoCal could be nice. @AdvWife uses a Foxwing, seems to work really well although you...

    Fridge/Freezer Wireless Thermometer

I've been looking for wireless temp/humidity sensors for my trailer and and came across the Kestrel DROP's: https://www.extrememeters.com/collections/kestrel-bluetooh-drop-dataloggers Probably the most expensive option I've seen but you mentioned "hold up in offroad use"...

I added a piezo ingition to my Partner stove, got the idea from "slowtwitch" in this thread. Works great! Used some Heatshield Hot Sleeve Roll, Ancor Marine Grade Shrink Tube, some aluminium for a bracket, and a couple stainless rivets. All wearable parts are easily replaceable. Also...

    Portable propane fire pit

Just got back from Silverton. Nice and rainy! For a portable no-frills solution I've been using the Quikfire: http://quikfire.com/ I really like it. Was using the Camco Little Red but it was bulky and I realized the faux logs, etc., weren't necessary. I just want heat, light, and portability.

I'm really happy with them. Ordered a "custom" RV kit here: https://blackoutez.com/RV-Window-Cover Width: 20.25" Length: 18.375" Radius: 3.5" Not the cheapest but easier than trying to source all the materials. I'm thinking about ordering a 16" square to cover the Fantastic Fan, that thing...

Can't speak to an actual double pane window but this is my solution. A 100% blackout "fabric" (less fabric-y and more rubbery/wipes-off-with-a-damp-cloth material), attaches with velcro all around. White external color to block heat. Similar to the "fabric" on a Four Wheel Camper window. Way...
