    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

Updating this thread in case someone else comes along. The fridge is still happily chugging along 250+ days a year 24/7 for almost two years now. Biggest advantage Ive found to it besides trips is having somewhere to dump perishable groceries if i'm not heading right home. Forget about the...

    RTIC 65 vs Fridge

After the week of research I ended up buying a Whynter FM-62dz. Its a bit higher draw, but that looks like it can be mitigated with some custom insulation. the dual door and individual thermostats should lead to better door opening efficiency... ie. keep food on the big side and drinks on...

    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

I did finally get through to Whynter and they verified that ice can be used in emergency as long as the drain stays open. I ended up buying a FM-62DZ, because ....ice cream. I'm sure I didn't get a great price on it, and I broke the golden rule and bought an extended warrantee for it...

I tried calling whynter yesterday and got a whole bunch of voicemail ?. Also need to verify that these fridges can take and hold ice in emergency if it fails in the middle of a trip

    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

Maitnence I would expect in a bumped around off-road rig would be light electrical (connections etc) possibly replacing a temp switch, and up to a compressor swap and coolant charge.

Any coolers with left side drains?

Height of the shelf above it is 28" with limited ability to slide. One of the things that worries me about the 22 inch tall dometic. The door can only partially open. Makes lifting baskets out difficult. Tried calling whynter to talk about the fm 62dz and got voicemail three times ?

    RTIC 65 vs Fridge

I tried calling today and never got through to anyone. But both should be able to freeze and besides the removable wall to differences I can see

    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

Would you consider the other fridges a better longtevity? Repairability is important as shipping something in for repairs jack's the price way up

    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

I have strict size requirements and wanted a dual zone. The dometic 65dz is a close contender... But I don't like the games with pricing and the freezer section/fridge balance looks like a pain. The Whynter looked a bit easier to maintain too... Unless that is a false idea.

    Lifespan of a Whynter fm-62dz

Was thinking about buying one of these over an rtic chest. I suppose if it lives 5+ years it will be worth the $750. But I'm reading a lot of dead units. I have placed life span around 1 to 3 years with some lasting five years? Accurate? It will live full time in a road van

    RTIC 65 vs Fridge

I'm about to make the same decision... I already have the "way over engineered" 12V system. 300watts of solar, 400 AH of batteries, fuse blocks, d blocks. etc... My old Coleman Xtreeme will not fit anymore due to a new water system taking up six inches of space. I was leaning toward...

Any coolers with left side drains?

Thanks, i'll check them out. My local stores did not turn up anything useful but had a friend remind me of RTIC... Looks like they might have dual drains too

Any coolers with left side drains?

I got VETO'd on a Dometic compressor. So I'm looking for a cooler again. I have 18" deep and 26" to 32" wide(depending if my water jug fits next to it in compartment. BUT, the biggest thing I would like in a new cooler is the ability to drain from the left side... a right side drain faces...

Need to upgrade my Batteries and inverter... Any point in switching to AGM or LIPO?

I also see costco has some 6v golf cart batteries. As I currently understand I divide the 20hr amp hour rating to compare the batteries? Now the interesting thing about the golf cart batteries is I think I could fit four of them in my battery compartment since I have height on my tray. wired...

Recommendations Wanted - Poor Man's Group 27 Deep Cycle or Marine/Trolling Batteries

I'm in the same boat. I am looking to replace my three year old Everstart group 31's. Hard to justify the $600 trojans when I can replace my Walmart/Costco batteries four times over. If you are limited in form factor and already have a nice box to contain spillage just go with the cheap...

Need to upgrade my Batteries and inverter... Any point in switching to AGM or LIPO?

Hey guys, My batteries are coming up on two years old and i'm starting to have some low voltage alarms on my cheap walmart inverter. I'm not sure if its the inverter or the batteries, but I'm guessing the inverter is set to have lo battery way to high to protect starting batteries in a...

    Nissan NV2500 Toy Hauling camper

Spent some time with a roll of reflectix, fiberglass mat, and 3M 77 adhesive. I don't know how much it helps but every little bit helps with holding heat in right? My plan is to finish the roof with a 1/4 mdf panel and pack fiberglass between the panel and reflectix. The side panels i'm...
