XPCamper goes out of business, files for bankruptcy?

A little late to the party, but I just found out today about this, and it made me sad, but didn't totally surprise me. I was offered a job there a few years ago, and had to decline... I am a welder and fabricator, and had some experience with composites as well. They offered me a job, for $12...

    Hairy Apple's camping trailer build.

I have no idea! I know for powdercoating, you have to sand blast stuff very clean. Paint I am not sure. I think my friend who's trailer this will be, is going to have it professionally painted, so I guess we'll leave that up to the paint guys. I would think so though, since it's a little...

Almost done! Need to do a latch for the swing out. And a few minor things here and there. Wire the lights. Then it can go to paint and it will look amazing.

Yep, my M416 is in the background. Waiting it's turn to be finished. Although, I'm kind of thinking I'll build another one of these, sell the M416 now.

    Hello, meet Elsie.

Next I got all the plumbing figured out. I blocked off the extra thermostat line. I may use it someday for a heat exchanger. I had to make an ugly reducer to fit the 3FE heater hoses to the 2F water pump. It's ugly. I am going to paint it black and hopefully it's less glaring. The other...

    Hello, meet Elsie.

Got the motor in! BIG stuff going on... big stuff. At this point, I need to get a crossmember built. As much as I am trying to use as much OEM stuff as I could, the rubber chunk for the transmission mount is $200 and there is no way I'm paying that for a hunk of rubber with some bolts in it...

    Hello, meet Elsie.

A few random pictures from this weekends fun.... My wife turning the engine over so I can torque the clutch down. I used the bread trick to get the bearing out. Made my day, I'd never done it before, had read about it, knew about it for a long time. I didn't have a puller, and thought.. why...

    Hello, meet Elsie.

Got the manifolds on, and started putting together the flywheel, bellhousing, and clutch this weekend. Tonight once my wife is home from work, we are going to try to mate the transmission and transfer case and then the whole thing will be ready to install. I have to repair a few things on the...

    Hello, meet Elsie.

It's not really going to be "original" since it will be a 3FE injection set up on the 2F. I will be keeping the 35s, and maybe even going up to 37s, I may regear, we'll see how things are overall once I have the 5 speed an gears in the case. If I need it I will regear for sure. Today, was...

    Hairy Apple's camping trailer build.

Thank you. We've only been at it a year. lolol. Really though, we are working on it for half a day a week, so we're getting a lot done with the limited time we've had to work on it. I also took a few months off working on it, to build a shop.

    Hello, meet Elsie.

Finally got all the gaskets and stuff for the new motor, dropped the head off at the machine shop last week, tomorrow hopefully I'll do all the block gaskets and get it ready. Once the head comes back, put the head back on, get the flywheel surfaced and install it and the clutch.. attach the...

    Hello, meet Elsie.

Well, I guess I haven't updated this in over 2 years.. wow. So, the V8 survived. I am not sure what caused it, but the motor had great compression and we just repaired it. Distributor, carb and some wiring. I haven't driven it much since then though. Not big trips, nothing great. Gone...

I am not really sure, steel prices went through the roof half way through, so our original guess of $1500ish is way shot now. I'd say, by the time we are done, $2500 or so.

Front steps, fenders, a harbor freight box, and this is about where we are at today. I need to finish the fenders, build the tailgate, build the lid, and then it's off to get painted. It will be painted to match my buddies olive FJ40 in the first post.
