Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

If your main concern is "rough ride", you should probably be looking at P tires and not LT tires. They ride better and will do fine on the roads you mention traveling on. They're also probably less expensive. Just beware that dropping pressure while off road is not recommended for P tires since...

Kelty makes an option you might consider called a Backroads Shelter. It's very versatile, can go on pickup tailgate or van side door. Easy deploy and pack up. Provides privacy and weather protection. I use them on my squaredrop trailer.

    Off Grid Trailers

An option to try because tongue weight and loads vary is air bags in the rear suspension on your truck. They have helped my 80 series since I added an aux fuel tank. Here is one source: https://www.airliftcompany.com/products

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

I just figured out why this thread gets under my skin. I read Gary's (@gwittman) post #211 and I just knew the OP would chime in and what he would ask. I told myself that I wasn't going to get sucked in again, but I think I figured out what bothers me. First let me ask a few questions to get...

    eatSleepWoof gets a 6x12

I use a simple incandescent light bulb (not an LED bulb) in a lamp strategically placed, to keep my trailer's water system above freezing when temps drop. As well as you insulated your trailer, IMHO a heater is overkill and probably uses considerably more power than you need. Just need to keep...

Trip Report Wyoming BDR August 16-26

Out of 3 nights camping, used the Kelty 1 night. They’re quick and simple to set up and take down and provide nice privacy. Still need to try in in-climate weather, but expect them to do the job. Worth the $ in my book.

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

An update on the mod I made for my top vent after a group trip to the WYBDR - it works great, with one exception. Crossing Idaho on I84 and I86 on my trip I hit significant winds that caused the vent to close and shut off fan. I may not have cinched the lid down tight enough thinking that I was...

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

One other change that I've made recently was to retire the wall kit for my Alu Cab awning. It was just too much of a hassle to use, unless camped for multiple days in one spot. Even then it took over an hour to set up and almost that long to pack up. I'll still use the awning for shade...

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

I've not been able to rely on my roof vent for keeping dust out of the trailer while towed on dirt. The vibration, gravity and wind have combined to close the vent past the point where the fan is operable. I even tried cutting wedges of foam rubber and stuffing on the edges, but they vibrate out...

    Lightship L1 trailer

In case you haven't looked at this yet, it's quite revolutionary in many respects. I'm almost afraid to ask what these things will sell for. Don't think this will be in the overland category. https://expeditionportal.com/lightship-l1-electrifies-the-rv-market-video/

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

I don't know, that damage looks like something sharper than a rock, like maybe a broken off steel fence post that @ChrisCosta416 just barely hit, hidden on the edge of a trail. Just an opinion.

    eatSleepWoof gets a 6x12

Just curious, do you really need to bring firewood in BC? I would've thought that with as plentiful as the trees are that you could just gather at your campsite. Here in OR, the southwest and places where trees and wood are scarce and campfires are allowed I can see the need for bringing...

    eatSleepWoof gets a 6x12

It's really coming along! Looks great and durable, not like the crap that is in trailers, campers and motor homes that plague the RV industry today and in the recent past. Hopefully the frame and shell of your trailer will hold up to your quality work!(y)

2018 Three Feathers Mfg. 'Trail Head'

Ark eventually got the wheels in stock and shipped replacements, back in August I believe. I installed them and kept one of the original wheels as a spare - the least worn, of course. The one with the chunk out of it got pitched. Looking at the construction of the wheel, I think I figured out...

I like the size of my 23Zero shower enclosure, too. On my previous trailer, I had installed a Kinsmen shower enclosure. It was also, an excellent option to have, except it was smaller which made any activity in it, sort of awkward. Of the two, I prefer the 23Zero. It's surprizing what a few...

I like the pivoting lockable combo handle and latch. Extra security and confidence builder that your door stays closed on the road, no matter what bumps you traverse. The handle is great when you're entering and exiting the trailer. Nice job!

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

I see what you mean, after some web searching. Plenty agreement on forums, but that's not info many tire makers share willingly. My post was made from personal experience and advice given by "tire techs" at tire shops who've seen the damage. It's common sense that stronger sidewalls hold up...

Nice setup! What RTT is that? It's not their new Wedge, is it?

iKamper Introduces A New Wedge Style RTT and a 270- Degree Awning

After reading the article, I liked the idea of the hard case. IMHO same principle as a hard shell RTT vs the fold out soft shell. To me, the additional weight would be worth the potential longevity, IF the awning, itself, was high quality. After owning a 2 person hard shell RTT for 8 yrs, I...
