Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

I haven't seen this, but suspect they are trying to address issues with the newer (late 2021, 2022, and beyond) HQ models. Your 2020 HQ19 and my Feb 2021 mfr'ed HQ19 are very different beasts than the newer and current production ones. Politely said, BS opted for much less robust cabinent...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

FWIW, the two Anderson SB-50 connectors at the tongue on "most" HQ Black Series, go gray connecting to the battery bank, and the black used to periodically charge the small battery for the emergency brake system. This is the extra pull cord you attach to the hitch when hooking your trailer to...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

I haven't had any noticeable leakage on mine, but l just looked at the assembly and would second checking the interface between the three light bezels and the metal housing. Maybe, water is entering the assembly through one or more of those, and wicking into the housing?

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

There were some electrical issues for a short timespan about 2 years ago (I think), and there was a recall issued to owners of trailers at the time. I haven't heard anything recently. Keep in mind since early 2021 model production, the Black Series caravans have changed significantly in...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

English, I feel your pain on the battery situation. My dealings with BS have been limited to a leaking skylight shortly after we took delivery; they did cover under warranty and I had a better response than I was getting thru my dealer. I'm not an electrical expert, and most of what I did was...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

Not trying to insult, but there's no magic there. Your outlet pic looks like a cam-lock cap was plumbed to the outlet, but no valve is visible. I'm assuming that is the gray water waste tank, but don't recognize the BS model; HQ21? Obviously, there should be a comparable knife valve on this...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

Got lots of pics ;): All the stock stuff on my HQ19 worked as advertised, but I wanted to upgrade the AGM's as soon as we took delivery. Luckily, Battle Born had a summer sale shortly after we got the trailer home, and that motivated me. As soon as I started going thru the wiring, I saw a...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

I converted my 2021 HQ19 to Lithium and used Victron components (4-100 Ah B10012's, Victron MPPT 150/45 controller, BMV-712 battery monitor, etc). For my charge controller, there is a screw on the side of the base which you connect the ground to. I replaced most all the factory wiring in my...

Black Series HQ Tips, Tricks, and Learning.....

Leaking skylights in Black Series caravans are unfortunately very common. My 2021 HQ19 skylight leaked profusely during the first rain after we took possession in June. There are numerous instances on the Black Series Facebook group of leaking skylights; I believe these were poorly installed...

2021 RAM 3500 Tradesman | AEV Prospector | FWC Grandby

Maybe more challenging than thought to flip this draglink, as AEV recently "recalled" my suspension to replace the OEM steering knuckle with a new precision machined one to correctly fit the flipped link. A local AEV dealer shop installed the suspension on my '20 2500, and they noted a small...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

I wish those Bilsteins were available now, as I'd have them included on my upcoming AEV install. Unfortunately, they've been referenced for years without any ETA. My "wish" from Ram would be the ability to option lockers, sway disconnect, articulink arms, and full skids on a diesel Tradesman...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

Wildpeak, I share your engineering affliction :D and many of your views, but believe some basic physics and the inherent compromises desired for overlanding force limits on suspensions. While the Ram 2500 coils-inside-the-frame may be inferior for lateral stability, don't forget Ram is the only...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

George, I thought other models besides the PW got the power hop, but it makes sense for the manual trans Cummins with the user being able to drop the clutch as they see fit. I suspect as RAM developed other features like the torque control and refined the suspension, they found they could...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

jonathon, rear shocks and track bar makes a lot of sense, and is partially the reason I decided to go with the AEV kit. Almost universally, aftermarket track bar kits not only replace the bar w/ a longer or adjustable one to re-center the axle, but move the mounting pts to put the bar in a more...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

Agreed, I like to think that the model references are saying that the specific part may be used, but it doesn't help in part/model tracking. The vin# works, but is tedious. While I don't have any direct experience with the RAM yet, I've always replaced all 4 shocks when modifying on the...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

Wildpeak, thanks for posting the link to that Mike Cairns interview. I started my career engineering in the auto industry, and still enjoy hearing from the people that actually designed and brought the product to market. Interesting reference to the "power-hop shock", and how it was needed to...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

tacollie makes an interesting point with the sway bar. The disconnecting mechanism generally adds stiffness to the bar, but I wonder how the PW sway bar compares in stiffness to a standard one. Anyone compared bar diameters? Wildpeak, given any consideration to Timbrens, or other bump stop...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

Jadmt, I'm a little dubious on the parts vendor fitment listings. If you look up the front radius arms with the Articulink feature on your Power Wagons, they show fitment on almost every 2500 model. I'm taking it to mean they can fit, rather than are the OEM spec'ed part. I haven't really...

    Questions About Shocks/Springs Ram 2500

So, my base Tradesman has a scale weight on the registration of 7314 lbs; what is a real weight for one of your PW's? Was just looking up my spring part numbers and the vendor lists the rears as "discontinued". That's concerning for a truck built Feb'20... ?
