Vary valid point about the towing range. Not really a consideration for my current use case, but fantastic point!
$20k markup on a First Edition doesn’t seem surprising. But there’s a few dealers that seem to be honoring MSRP, as per reports by folks on IH8MUD.
Because it’s a Prado. It doesn’t have the 300 series diff/running gear. The GX550 does get the bigger diffs though.
All in all I’m disappointed.
Payload is lackluster
91 octane requirement sucks
Small diffs on the LC vs GX and 300
Range is better but it’s got an 18 gallon tank.
I bought one from the Black Friday sale and, while I’ve only used it on a few single overnight trips, it’s pretty awesome!
Yeah it’s expensive and you can put something together that would do all the same things, but it’s ridiculously handy and easy to use. I think the system is pretty well...
I have the Nemo Aurora Highrise 4p and it’s a great tent for the money. Marmot is another great brand that offers great bang for your buck.

I think IH8MUD would be the place to get more data on this. But as mentioned, guys there are using Tundra front control arms, etc to do long travel suspension setups, including in the LX570.
While I agree with all of this sentiment…parents of multiples have a different set of challenges that seem hard for singleton parents to really fathom, based on my experience.
+1 to a.boelkin’s post!
Twins are exponentially tougher and given the fact that you already have a little one - it’s gonna be HARD.
I’d hold off on anything until the twins get a bit older. Mine just turned 3 and we’re just now to the point where we feel that they are ready for more adventurous...
Keep an eye out at your local Costco for the down throw blankets that they have occasionally. It was 2 for $40 a few years ago.
Hammock campers use them a lot and mod them.
I don’t understand why tipis aren’t more popular here. Seems like they’ve got a lot to offer for car campers/overlanders. I thought I wanted a RTT, but after giving it some more thought, they just seem...cumbersome I guess.
I’m going to order the Seek Outside Redcliff soon for a CO trip we’re...
