i have a 01 tundra 2wd, 4.7,xcab that i was wanting to convert into a 4wd. Should I just find a wrecked 4wd and yank all the stock front crossmember, xcase, drive shafts and wiring? or do a straight axle? price is always an issue. i would like to buy a tacoma, or a old land rover and build an expo rig, but having a 3rd truck isnt likley. and just to purchase another truck, i figured i could convert mine, i was hoping to stay around the 2500-3000 price range. I would use it more for expo travel so I dont plan on doing a insane build like that white 01 bobtailed, straight axle, truck that tundra01 built. I build hot rods and kustoms for a living so having to fab up things wouldnt be a problem. i have more time than money. i just dont know about what year xcases are better than others, and what mathces up as far as splines and out put shafts.....
