02 avalanche bed rack help.

First post and could use some assistance. Im currently building a bed rack for my 02 avalanche north face edition which I would like to share to the community as it comes along. As everyone knows the avalanche is an SUV cut down. Which doesn't allow for many good mounting options for a rack which kills the market for us.

I found a solution, I believe could work but could use some advice on what everyone thinks. As you know the bed cover can hold 300 pounds PER panel. The front mounting bracket has a hole already in them and a drill bit and two holes later I believe i figured it out. The holes you see in the pictures are in cover brackets themselves which can easily be hidden if I ever decide to take the rack off and put the cover back on. Another benefit is the access to my saddle bags are still open unlike some of the other builds I've seen. Has anyone tried this method? They seem pretty solid and don't leave any nasty scars on the outside of the truck. Thoughts and opinions and any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - nice to see someone else using an Av. Your solution is creative, but for the pics it appears as though you lost the ability to use your covers and rack at the same time - which takes away one of the main overland benefits of the Avalanche - secured storage. But one thing I have learned about having a vehicle where nearly everything has to be tabbed - there is no single best way to do it and everyone has their own style and preferences. FYI - my saddlebags are still fully functional - as are my caps. Weight limit is 250 per cap.
