03 Xterra oil level?

I checked my oil level in my 03 xterra today and on one side of the dip stick the oil level shows right in between high and low on the scale but the scale on the other side of the dip stick shows no oil. So my question is would this mean it is at a good level or should one side be covered and the other side show the level?

I dont know very much about the inner workings of vehicles at this point so I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thank you,

i would guess if there are high and low markings, somewhere in between is acceptable, usually right below H would mean full. Although check your manual, it should explain what the markings mean and where your level should fall.

You want it right in the middle of the shaded area

The 2.4L takes 3.75 qts
The 3.3L takes 3.5 qts

Let it sit for ten min or so before you check it to allow all of the oil to drain back down into the pan

The dipstick tends to scrap the tube as It comes out, that's probably why it's only showing on one side

As long as one of the sides shows the oil level, you'll be fine. I've had that come up before but as long as the stick shows between the H and L, the rig should have the said oil level.
