So we rolled the duramax in Moab and came back and got a Suburban. (Yes I drove from Moab to Georgia in a rolled truck.) Same year, color, and trim package. The plan is to move everything to the suburban.
Quick spec list:
60 front AAM 11.5 rear
ARB in both 4.10 gear
ORU straght axle kit with atlas springs Net 8" of lift
37" SSR on trail ready beadlocks

Any reason to keep so much lift? 4-6" gives you a much lower CoG and you can still fit 37s and the solid front axle.

The lift is mostly because I already have the springs. I thought about 4" lift but really didn't want to buy new springs for the front. Already had to order new rear springs. Duramax 64" suburban is 60"

Duraburb is the big plan. I want to play with the 8.1L a little. I put a Taylor 203 cam and 1.7 rockers in it already.
Who does not like a big block with a cam?

Mines stock aside from a whipple supercharger, I'd love to have a cam and rockers. How much of a change did you get from them?

The raylor 203 cm and rockers make a difference. I re tuned with HP tuner on a 89 octane. Better throttle response. New cam with a supercharger would be nice.

As you know, one bigger problem with a 8.1L is the heads. Not alot you can do with them.

Like all dana 60 install you have to make room. Front IFS comes out petty quick and easy. Then get out the plasma and flap wheel and start removeing the lower control arm brackets.20190702_222709_resize_9.jpg20190709_214731_resize_40.jpg

Reuseing parts from one project to another is nothing new. I just wanted to keep the duramax together so I didn't have parts all over my shop.
My plan was to make a steer axle so I could still move the truck around. The Transfer case is out because I am taking the front slip yoke eliminator and putting it in the 246 in the suburban. I just wanted to be able to steer the truck when I move it.
Jeep parts are good for something. I used a 2wd Cherokee axle to make me a steer axle. Cut the tube about 2" in from the C and retuned it a little wider. 14" trailer wheel and tire on the front. Stock springs and 265 tire on the rear.

Spring hangers are mounted. I reusing the Offroad Unlimited kit off the duramax. The front frame is the same as the truck where the rear has a different length spring. Front hanger align with the stock tow hook bolt holes and then drill a few additional bolt holes. Rear hangers measure off the front hangers and bolt to the frame. 8 bolt hold the rear hangers to the frame.

The exhaust shop is going to love the passenger side hanger in the way.
