04 Chevrolet Express van without cruise control to add cruise control.

I have an 04 Chevrolet Express van with the 6.0 gas engine without cruise control. I tried installing a turn signal switch with cruise control feature on it and along with cruise not working the hazzard lights nor brights worked. Seeing what is needed to add cruise control to this van. Have read a few things but don't want to throw money in the wrong place here.

I think that's a cable throttle setup. If it is, you'll also need the cruise actuator. I'm not sure where it is on vans, but if you follow the cables from the throttle body, one leads directly to it, while the other leads to the gas pedal. Once you find the actuator, check your van to see if it has an unused electrical plug in the same location. If it does, a MF switch and the actuator will get your cruise working.

If some things did not work, then the MF switch you got is either bad, or the incorrect one for your van...

Cable type and what module are you referring to? Is that the MF switch? Or something else? Thank you for the replies much appreciated. Why some vehicles don't have cruise control is beyond me.

Can't find a MF switch. Is that the turn signal lever? I tried 2 of the and same results.

In your picture of the cable at the throttle you can see where the cruise cable will go. You'll need a cable, the actuator module and the stalk on the column but the might have pinned the connectors differently for trucks with cruise so you'll need to look up a wiring diagram.

Here you go, look for the RPO code list, not sure where it is on an express van, make sure if it has code JL4 or not.

I appreciate your replies and I'll work on it when I get time to focus on it. Looks like a bigger deal than first thought. Hare to find donar Van's in the junkyard. lots of trucks so I need to know what all I need so I'm researching things here and there and your responses have been great.

You can use the cable actuator module from any 1996~2004 truck or van, so that should be easy to find.

You still need to verify that you have the wiring for the actuator module.
Here's a diagram... It appears the module is under the hood, just to the left of the brake booster...

Find where the wiring for the wiper motor comes down out of the cowl, and follow it down. Hopefully you will find an 8 pin or so connector just taped to the harness there. That's the wiring for the cruise actuator module...

The Multi-Function switch comprises the turn signal stalk and emergency flasher switch. Four your 2004 van, it MUST come from a 2003 to 2007 van, not a truck or any other car. The pinout should not be different between cruise and non-cruise, there will just be several more wires populated in the cruise switch connector. You may be trying to install a MF switch from something else... ??

If you do not find that plug, then I'd recommend an aftermarket cruise control setup rather than trying to wire in factory cruise.

If the cable of whatever module you end up using is too short, you can buy the likely longer cable assembly for your van through GM. You can also just zip tie the actuator in place if you don't have the correct bracket.

Good luck!
