Hey Guys, Im chiming in here because i am considering purchasing a 05+ Tacoma for expo use. I need to haul a dirt bike (2 if possible) in the bed of the truck. I like the look of the short bed but i dont know if two bikes can fit in the back. I am pretty sure two can fit in the long bed, but didnt know if any of yall had some experience you wouldn't mind sharing.

Thanks

two will fit.

i always put my ramp under the front and rear wheels to reduce the amount of weight on the tailgate. 2nd gen Tacoma Tailgates are not strong.

I have a tundra crewmax with a 5.5" bed, i can fit a bike in diagonal no problem with gate closed, three bikes in straight with gate down. Maybe that helps

I can fit my street bikes in mine (2) but I cannot close the tailgate all the way, and mine is long bed. I image the short bed would hold them, but you cannot close the tailgate at all.

My friend has had 2 full size dirt bikes in the bed of his short bed '07 Tacoma. You won't be able to close the tailgate at all, but he never had an issue. :bike_rider:

My Tacoma worked perfectly for hauling my KTM between breakdowns:

There's lots of threads and pics - seems like it'll work. But, lots of stories on the tailgate bending. Fortunately it comes off pretty quick.

I have a really nice reinforcement plate for the Tacoma if anyone is interested, I was paranoid the tailgate would buckle with bikes in the back... anyway, it worked very well while I had the truck. Pm me.

I've got a regular bed and the tailgate has to be down to fit the Strom, never tried the DRZ. I will say that a trailer with a couple of wheel chocks is a WHOLE lot easier to use. I picked up a couple of these from Northern Tool on sale and they work fine.

Watch their sales flyers and for their coupons; I think I paid around $45/each for mine. They work with both bikes.
