05+ Tacoma Front Recovery Points

Without adding an ARB or other aftermarket bumper, what is a good way to add front recovery points to a 05+ Tacoma? I have the Off-Road package, but I think I'd like to have another recovery point on the front in addition to the factory hook on the passengers side.

Thanks,

The 05+ ARB doesn't come with any additional recovery points, but some of the other bumper options do. I'm not that fond of recovery points high up on the bumper, and prefer something on or close to the frame. That being said, you could remove the driver-side tow loop, and weld on a recovery point to the frame in that location.

I was really hoping that someone here would say something like this:

"Well, you could take the driver's side rear hook off of a '59 Tatra, make sure you get one made after July of '59, invert it and it will bolt right up. PM me and I'll send you one for postage, got four of 'em sitting in a box in the garage."

On a more serious note, I thought the shrockworks bumper looked pretty good. I'm just not ready to get into the replace bumper, add a wench, upgrade suspension, get new tires cycle. And I have a big trip planned for just after Thanksgiving. So I am on a bit of a time crunch.

Thanks for the help though. That CBI install looks sweet.

Nice. Any particular reason for the north/south orientation of the shackle eye, as opposed to an east/west one?

Going North south enables me to use both d rings at the same time with a little less stress on the d-ring mount when pulling towards the middle of the truck. If I also need to pull the truck on a funny angle or slide the truck over 90 degrees the d-ring mount will pull towards that point a little bit more easily.

Also when I talked to the engineer he said mounting them north south will spread the load a little better across the plate and bumper instead of putting allot of stress on 2 bolts when pulling on them at funny angles.

Hopefully this makes a little sense?

Perfect sense. Thanks for adding another item to my "things I gotta do to my truck" list. :)

Glad I could help out, I'm still working through my list. Shrockworks sliders and a TRD Supercharger are on its way and those will be the next install.
