06 Double Cab Toyota Rust Check

Hey Team,

I found a pretty good potential deal ($5500>) for a 2006 Tundra.

The only hiccups are the high mileage (280,000), the fact that it has a KM speedometer so its actually 450,000km showing.
The KM speedo leads me think that the truck was in the Canadian market. Ofcourse the 1st gen Tundras had rust problems...

I attached some photos of the current condition.

I was hoping some rust experts might be able to point me in the right direction?
It all looks good but theres definitely some bubble action going on under neath the coat on the Frame.

What do you guys think? Is this a deal or am i in over my head.

That frame looks fine. Way better than mine when I got it. I had to do a lot of wire brushing to clean it up and then paint. I didn't see anything in the video that looked like a problem at all.

The first picture shows the frame rail covered in mud and grime, but I'll bet when you clean it off it will be nice underneath.

It's a high-mileage truck, so expect to have some maintenance to do on it, but the frame wouldn't be a concern for me at all.

@Kpack I am not very familiar to rust or even rust protection being from a non-snowing climate. I definitely went after it with a wire brush but it seemed to be pretty thick. My only concern with the bubbling effect under neath the paint, it must be a rust treatment right? atleast something thicker then Por-15. I peaked at your build (2 thumbs up).

Like I said, it's better than what I had. Just clean it off using wire wheel or stripping disk and paint it. For the age of the truck it looks really nice underneath. Most guys would kill for a frame that looks like that.

Clean what you don't like, paint over it, then (if you live in a snowy area) spray the frame with Fluid Film before winter hits. Easy.
