I have a 2006 double cab short bed and would like to know if the Tacoma roof can hold a rooftop tent on it. I'm planning a trip to Alaska this June and would like to get one. I know the ideal way to mount one is in the back on a rack but I have a hard tonneau cover that I would like to keep all my stuff locked away in. I can build a rack on the roof to hold the weight but do you think the roof can support the weight? Not with just people in it but bouncing around off road and braking, as well. I don't want it to go flying off when braking hard. I've only seen suv's with rtt's on them. I'd assume I can mount it on the trucks roof as well but thought I would get some opinions/facts first.
I was also interested in the ARB Simpson 3 RTT. Since ARBUSA is located in Washington I could just pick up it and not have to pay shipping. Would you recommend the eezi-awn RTT over this one or are they about the same? I'm only looking to hold two people.
