09 Tacoma

Wow, and you can get away with that?? :Wow1: My wife needs to hang out with yours for a while. :D

I really like the new Taco's, but I still love my 01. I'll do as you're planning to, as far as keeping both trucks in the family. But it will be a slightly modified plan where the receiver of the new and receivee of the old are switched around.

my wife does not want the new one because she wants my 04 that already has a few dings......
I am seeing anywhere from 29 and some to 32 and some OTD prices. one dealer let me walk when I offered below the invoice price, they did not try and haggle at all. I guess the double cabs are still so popular they know they will sell it at a premium price? you would think with the way sales are down they would jump at any chance to make a sale. I may try again this weekend seeing it is the end of the month and they might be more willing to deal to meet their quota.
taxes are going up April 1st and I want to snag the rebate. Toyota financial called me last night offering me 500.00 towards a new vehicle BUT only if I leased or got a loan through them. then they wanted to submit the info to a dealer and I said NO, I don't want a bunch of pesky dealership salespeople calling me at all hours.

atavuss,

I had a very hard time finding a double cab here in NorCal. Auburn Toyota was the only dealer that gave me anything close to a price I would pay. I got my truck for 300 above invoice before the rebate and taxes.

IMO... I like the previos gen double cab's (what, 2000-2005???) the most of all. Smaller, more nimble and the 3.4 is a great match. Buy the wife a 1st Gen Sequoia (unless she wants a P/U) and keep your 04 double Cab... That's just what I'd do. I wish the frames and underpinnings were as stout as the older trucks because those Double Cab's like yours are one of my favorite looking Toyota P/U's.

edit:> your wife sounds cool... make her find her own double cab :D

Cheers

Dave

Don,
Auburn is where I ended up buying my 09 Taco yesterday. no one else had a silver TRD off road double cab. I tried 4 other dealers starting with Lodi and working my way to Elk Grove, Sacramento, Roseville, and finally Auburn. Roseville had a blue one but they would not give me an OTD price unless I went inside........they told me they would make it worth my while if I would settle for the blue instead of trying elsewhere. I told them to email me a OTD price to my pager while I was on my way to Auburn if they wanted my business, they never did.
I should have jumped on the silver TRD last weekend at Lodi but I thought I could do better price wise. while I was making the deal with Auburn the salesman told me there were other dealerships calling and wanting the one I was buying, salesmanship? maybe.............or it seems to me these Tacos are hard to find.

ATAVUSS,

"salesmanship? maybe.............or it seems to me these Tacos are hard to find."
When I got my truck the double cab, off road, Auto was truly hard to fine. Auburn and Maita both quoted me a price via e-mail on the same truck that was located at San Fran dealer. Auburn was $830 cheaper then Maita so I called them and said I'll take it. The had the truck in Auburn a day later. I replied to my last Maita message and told them another dealer beat their price by $830, never heard from Maita again.

Roseville would not deal at all with me, they just told me to come back at the end of the month and see what they have in stock then. Both Auburn and Maita did a dealer search and both found and quoted same truck.

when I walked around the lot at Maita for 5 or 10 minutes and no one acknowledged me or offered to help I left. strange way to do business when sales are down...........
any idea if it is easy to make the key fob into a factory alarm like the earlier gen Tacos? done any mods to yours yet?

Still stock, I need to install the Yaesu FT-7800R I have sitting on the shelf and I might get a shell for the back. Not sure about the alarm, but you can buy the Toyota VIP RS3200 alarm that plugs right in. The RS3200 can be found much cheaper online then from the dealer.
