Hi, I'm new to the forum and to LC's. I recently bought an LX470 that needs a new rear axle. I'm trying to figure out what my options are:
The LX is a 2000, I seem to recall reading somewhere that it should have a factory lsd. Is this correct? Does the LC have the same diff? If they are not the same will the LC diff mess up the a-trac (I think I have that right; I'm meaning the off-road traction control)
How hard would change over be and what gains or losses would I get from going to a 98/99 diff with factory locker?
We definitely plan to use it as a travel/adventure rig, but its primary purpose will be dd and to tow about 4000 lbs- occasionally up steep, un-compacted gravel driveways.
Cost and practicality are the two biggest determining factors right now.
