100 Series GX stock suspension - Any good?

Hi,

I've narrowed down my search for an LC100 to a few candidates, including a couple of GXs (UK variant). They seem very promising for expeditions, as instead of the AHC air suspension they come with much simpler traditional springs, (plus they have a fabric interior which doesn't wear out as quickly, etc.). I know that a lot of people swap out the AHC for springs on the VX models, but that can be expensive.

Does anyone know what the stock GX suspension is like? Would it require any/much work to be suitable for use with a roof tent, fridge in the back, etc. for general overlanding, rather than serious off road? How does it compare to the Ironman or OME medium or heavy duty sets, for example, that people often replace the AHC with?

Any other pros/cons of GX vs VX that I might be missing?

Thanks.

AHC is incredible. Only time to pull it out is on an older vehicle where it finally failed and the repair costs no longer make sense.

Thanks. How tough/reliable is it if it's been well maintained?

Is it able to deal with a heavily loaded LC - e.g. roof tent, fridge, drawers, etc.?
