12 volt Car heaters

Anybody used a 12 volt heater, 300 watts, etc for camping? I do have a 12 volt blanket that works fairly good, but was thinking of also using a small heater to warm the air inside the truck. I do have an extra blue top for these needs.

I don't use a 12v heater, I prefer the propane powered catylitic heater from Olympian. I have the wave III, it is connected to a 5 lb. tank and a 12' quick connect hose and can be used inside or outside my van. The quick connect hose is also used for my Coleman stove.
It is very quiet, and can heat up the inside of the van in about 20 minutes from around 25 degrees to about 60.

I've looked at 12v heaters but they just don't put out enough heat to make a difference for me.

FWIW, I just went on a camping trip 1 1/2 weeks ago in TN. The low was about 19 degrees on two nights and two guys had catalytic heaters by Coleman. Both of them agreed that the heater was just about useless. I can't speak to the Olympian unit but I can say to avoid the Coleman.

Everybody agreed that the hot rock was a great idea.

I think it depends on where you want to use them.
In my van, with very good insulation, the Wave heats up the interior very well in about 20 minutes.
If inside a tent with no insulation, I can see how they wouldn't work that well.

Well I've got the really good 12 volt blanket and my thoughts are that a small 12 volt heater will finish up the job. Of course I sleep in the Cruiser. The little heater has been ordered. My thought are, heat up the bed area in advance, and also get the truck warmed up nicely, then plug in the little heater. Well see. It may not work at all, but I am going to try it. I don't like the idea of propane heater inside in a truck.
