15 inch rims on a 97 lx450?

Nope. Only FJ80's (1991 & 1992) can do 15" rims. 1993 and later needs a 16" to clear the caliper.

heh, I thought you could run them with spacers. Need new shoes and it seems the 16 inch flavor is a tad bit more pricey.

all you need is 1 inch spacers for the rear.

the front fit just fine.

don't mind my post count, i haven't been here long. I work at Iron Pig Offroad and i own an 80 series that i have put 15 inch wheels on before.

I have been meaning to check this out to be sure, but, "they" say that the only 15s will fit is if they are steel wheels. I know for a fact that the 15" aluminum wheels sold on 91-92 Land Cruisers WILL NOT fit on an FJ-62 or an FZJ-80. On the 62 series they hit steering linkage and on the 80 series, they won't go over the rear calipers. I will try to put steel 15s on my 80 tomorrow, weather permitting. Then we will know for sure.

Vince "Skrewball" above used 15x10 steel rims on his for a short time during the winter bilzards up here with 35x15.5/15 Swampers on his FZJ80, so I can verify a 15" rim can work on the vehicle, but as he mentioned a spacer will need to be put on the rear - and not all 15" rims are built with the same "bell" or contour to the inside of the tire recess depending on backspace so no guarantees that the factory rim will fit even with a 1" spacer depending on backspacing, you might need a thicker spacer based on the wheel given. We already know for sure steel 15's will fit with a spacer, it just depends on the backspacing of the rim to how much spacer you need for it to clear.

Mogas let me know!
I have a set of 37x13.5x15's baja claws that are new sitting in the garage and would love to see what they look like once i add the j springs and spacers next week.
If you know the backspacing that would be helpful as well.
Thanks

If you are adventerous, you can grind a little off the rear brake caliper and the 15's should fit.

No, No, and NO.

This has been discussed ad naseum over on mud. The amount of material that you have to grind off can compromise the structure of the caliper. You can do it, and it has been done, but if that caliper fails and you kill somebody because of it, guess who is going to jail.

If you do it, please don't drive in Northern VA--my wife and kids are on the road there.
