Well, I'm looking for a set of steel wheels for my fj62. Been considering Fj40 15' steelies, Non usa spec 16" splits, and then I found this wheel. I can't find a picture of it anywhere and not sure if it will fit.

Its a toyota pickup 16x6 steel wheel. Anyone know anything about these wheels? Its got a toyota part # on it. Called a local dealership and the wheel didn't even show up in their system but did come up when I gave them the part #.

Anyone know if this wheel looks like the FJ40 steelies and the Non USA split wheels?

It may be great for people looking to run a simple 16" wheel but don't want to fool with the danger and hassle of the split rims.

Damn!!!

Thanks for posting that picture. I've been lookin everywhere for what these rims looked like. Thought they would be like the fj40 solid steel wheels, but I guess not. =(

Thats the truth about the $$...

Right now my options are run the 15" FJ40 disc brake wheels or get the 16" split rims.

I would rather have a 16" rim but I'm really hesitant to get the split rims, heard too many horror stories about them. Also, I'd have to deal with running tubes etc...But again i really do not want the 15" wheel...

This was brand new from Cdan on Ih8mud. If that's the price you can get them for in your link, then do it. I bought 6 and paid quite a bit more even at his discount.

Apples to Oranges...

Those are destructive tests conducted to test tire cages for aircraft tire use. The normal operating pressure for a Gulfstream main is probably ~150PSIG. These tests probably took >300PSIG to conduct to failure. Aircraft tires also don't have a safety bead like automotive tires.

When I was in the Navy, I was approaching an aircraft that had been sitting in the Hot Brake area for ~ 10 minutes. As I approched to inspect the brakes, the tire blew. 260PSI. I was at the nose of the aircraft so ~15 feet forward of the blast. Fortunately, tires typically don't explode on the radial axis and I was only knocked down or I instinctavely hit the deck, I don't know for sure. I had double ear protection (foam plugs and Mickey Mouse ears in my cranial) and it was still loud.

Anyhow, Split rims have been used for decades in the bush every where else but here in the US because we are in a litigous society that makes any accident someone else's fault. They are safe if you know what you are dealing with. I do. If you don't know about them, stay away. You might get hurt.
