1971 NATO jerry can. Spout doesn’t fit

I know we have some NATO aficionados around here. I recently picked up this NATO can to add to the collection since the inside is nice and clean. Unfortunately my Wavian/Valpro spouts don’t seem to fit the neck. I was thinking about trying to find an older surplus spout and take a chance on that, but I guess I don’t particularly want to have two types of spouts around. Anyone know about this idea? Can is marked 1971, has a shield and a diamond marked F. Maybe a surplus one could fit this can -and- the newer ones?

They (the tubes) don’t need to fit together, just need to get air into the NATO can. A bypass will do.
Looking more closely, the bayonets of the spout don’t quite line up with the hooks on the can. Could try bending them very slightly, but the whole thing still doesn’t quite sit right on the mouth of the can. Red can fits for example

Almost just need to take a punch and whack the latches backwards. Notice the slight angle of the catches on the shiny green can vs the more straight across angle on the dull can.
