1973 Toyota Chinook 4x4 conversion
Started life as a non running 2wd chinook. We converted it to 4wd with one ton axles and swapped in a 5.3 LS.
Motor:
Built 2004 5.3 vortec with a stage 2 truck cam, upgraded valve train, and all new seals/gaskets with head studs. All new accessory drive including water pump, power steering pump, alternator, and timing set.
Engine management is controlled by a FiTech ultimate LS ecu. Part number 70051.
Transmission:
Built 4L60e 4psd automatic with heavy duty sunshell and all updates. Rated for 600hp. Mated to an NP241c dual range transfer case.
Axles:
Front is an AAM 9.25 from a 2006 Ram 2500 with 3.73 gears. So there’s no goofy axle disconnect to worry about.
The rear axles is a Dana 70 from a 2002 Ram 2500. Also with 3.73 gears and a limited slip differential.
Interior:
It still has the original fold out couch, sink, water tank, refrigerator, and onboard propane. The propane tank is out of date, but it’s original to the vehicle and a cool vintage setup. The front seats have been upgraded to modern seats from a 2014 town and country.
The gauges have been upgraded to modern electric gauges from speedway motors.
Issues:
1) The roof sags a little in the middle and could use some attention.
2) The previous owner put flexseal tape around the windows. We can only assume they leaked at one point.
3) From what we can tell, the previous owner also started to install a third window in the canvas pop top, but stopped and patched the canvas.
3) The driver front quarter panel has a small rust patch about 4” in size, behind the front tire
4) Minor cosmetic blemishes. She’s not perfect, but she’s SOLID. Just a little weathered.
Asking $35,000
