I am posting this to put out feelers for a sale. I don't need to sell it but it is sitting and I don't have the time for it and I'd rather see it go to someone that will use it.
The Grandfather of the Sprinter. The Unimogs ugly cousin.
1977 Mercedes O309D. I am speculating but there may be roughly 20 of these on the road in the US. Currently the vehicle is in Green Mountain, NC near Johnson City, TN. It Started life as a special needs bus in Missoula, Montana for Mountain Line bus company. I bought it a few years ago and have put a nice chunk of change having the roof rack built. The exterior sprayed with Raptor Liner in Mercedes Green. I had an OM364A turbodiesel rebuilt and sourced all the parts to make it work in the bus. Some custom transmission mounts were made up. I also installed a 5 speed transmission, new split driveshafts with a "Brownie Box" high/low under/overdrive. It is 2WD. There are twin stick shifters next to the drivers seat to operate it. Tires are newish with maybe 4000 miles. All brakes were redone as well as rear diff fluid replaced. I have tons of extras and spare parts for this rig. Interior is bare and has been sprayed with Lizard Skin sound and heat products. The Power steering pump needs replacing and finding a replacement has been difficult. May have to take off and send to a qualified rebuilt as it was gone through in San Diego however the rebuilder did a substandard job and it started leaking 200 Miles outside San Diego.
