1981 Coachman Caper XL

I am asking $10,000, vehicle is located in Peyton, CO.

This is a 1981 Coachman Caper XL, which is built on a Ford F250 chassis. Originally came from the factory 2WD, with an anemic carbureted 300ci 6 cylinder and 4 speed transmission.

The Good:
I have converted it to 4WD with extended radius arms and a HP D44 out of a 1978 F150, and added 8 lug hubs to match the rear axle. Has 4.09 gears and a Trac-loc LS.

I replaced the rear D60 axle with a Sterling out of an F350, 4.10 gears and stock Trac-loc as well. The rear is converted to disk brakes as well. This sits on 35" tires (325/70/17 Falken Wild Peak A/Ts).

I swapped in an EFI 351W, roller block (from a '96 Bronco), with a new Ford Racing wiring harness and Mustang A9P EEC. Behind this there is a rebuilt ZF S5-42 manual transmission, mated to a Borg Warner 1356 transfer case. 4WD is fully functional.

The Bad:
The interior needs finishing and there have been leaks in the past. If I was keeping it, I'd reseal the roof and maybe repaint inside as well.

I have a ton of extra parts to complete/make your own. But understand, you are not going to buy this and start renting it out next week....

If you're not interested in the whole thing, I could be talked into selling the rolling chassis, with roller tires for $3500ish?

The original refrigerator, most of the doors/hinges for the cabinetry, amber and red marker lights, gas struts/mechanism to raise the bed (like a lift-gate for an SUV), the original furnace and water heater,

Why am I selling?? Because I bought a new Tremor and a slide-in camper for it. Much more comfortable to drive long distance, especially towing 10,000#...
