1984 FJ60

I had an LX450 a few years ago but sold it and have regretted it ever since. I picked up this 60 a few months ago to have as a toy but for some reason haven't been able to stop looking at the 80 series classifieds. Last night I committed to buying an FJ80, so the 60 has to go or my wife will put me on the streets... I love driving the 60--nothing beats the 4-spd... I have a feeling I'm going to regret selling this thing, but alas, here she is...

LOCATION: Sidney, Nebraska
PRICE: $3,900

ENGINE
-Stock 2F
-285,8XX miles
-Smog systems fully intact
-New fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter - 7/16
-Rebuilt carb with Keyster kit from Cruiser Outfitters, new OEM accelerator pump plunger - 8/16
-Carb seems to be tuned pretty well, but could probably use a bit more tweaking to get it perfect. Runs just a bit rich when cold, but runs really well once warmed up.
-Replaced all vacuum hoses with silicone hoses - 8/16
-Set timing, adjusted valves per FSM - 8/16
-New distributor cap/rotor, spark plugs/wires, valve cover gasket, PCV valve/grommet - 8/16
-Grounded carb fan temp sensor - 9/16
-Replaced EGR J-tube gasket, both A-pipe gaskets, installed manifold heat flap plug - 10/16
-Has exhaust leak under load--assuming it's the manifold gasket since other gaskets are new. I have been waiting for excuse to pull the carb and will replace the manifold gasket while I'm in there. I did look at the manifolds and confirmed that there are no cracks in the typical areas around the heat flap.
-Starts easily every time. Runs and idles smoothly. Pulls through full RPM range with no hiccups.
-Minor oil leaks from oil pan fill plug and rear main seal--just a couple drops on the driveway per day.
-I planned to flush power steering and coolant as preventative maintenance but haven't gotten around to it yet. However, no overheating whatsoever and power steering works well with no noises.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION/FRAME
-Stock 4-spd, transfer case, and axles.
-Transmission and transfer case shift and operate properly.
-Pilot bearing makes just a little noise, but not bad.
-Clutch feels good and engages/disengages properly.
-Manual hubs work properly.
-I was planning on doing a baseline and replace all diff/transmission/transfer case fluids but haven't gotten around to it yet...
-Original leaf springs, pretty flat.
-Shocks are old and could be replaced at some point.
-Tie rod ends look original--I planned to replace and get an alignment.
-PO said he did a brake job. I'm assuming that was just pads but the brakes work great, no known issues.
-E-brake bell cranks are sticky so the cable doesn't fully retract. E-brake does engage and disengage. Just need to pull rear drums and clean/lube bell cranks.
-Frame is in good shape. C-channels are not great, but not nearly as bad as many/most 60s. Easily replaced, but I wasn't going to worry about them anytime soon.
-Front knuckles look pretty good.
-Has ugly gold colored wheels and little 29" highway tires. They're in decent shape, but I planned to go with new 31" all terrains, and media blast the wheels and coat them black--haven't done that yet.

BODY
-Was repainted (color matched to original white) circa 2008. Appears to be a mediocre job. Some areas look great, others appear to have lacked in some prep work.
-Has rust at the following places: lower tailgate, quarter panel wheel well arches, small areas in rear wheel well liner. I have a line on a tailgate that is in great shape (and only $50) that I could pass on to the buyer.
-A little surface rust showing on door bottoms, just needs cleaned up and protected. They’re still solid.
-Passenger side quarter panel has some bondo that’s in bad shape.
-Damage to driver side quarter panel above taillight
-Damage to passenger side fender just in front of door
-Damage to outer rocker panels (replacements available for cheap or weld in silders)
-Side mirrors need replaced
-Bumpers are in good shape.
-I planned to patch the wheel well arches, get rid of all the bondo, and Monstaliner the lower part of the body. Everything from the body lines up is in great shape--that's why I got this truck. The doors, hood, roof, etc. are extremely straight and clean. Everything from the body lines down was going to get cleaned up and coated, so I wasn't worried about it...

INTERIOR
-Brown and in very good condition!
-I completely removed all of the interior and did a deep cleaning when I purchased the truck. This included removing and power washing the carpet, spraying down with Simple Green, then power washing again. Completely cleaned the headliner and body panels and shampooed the seats.
-Carpet is in good shape. Has a couple spots where it looks like someone had a phone or something mounted to the transmission hump near the shifter but good otherwise.
-Cargo area carpet had an oil spill from the PO, so I cut it out and replaced with a 1/8” rubber diamond plate mat. Looks great and much more practical than carpet.
-Original seat fabric is not pretty. Driver side is worn. All others are intact but not in great condition. Custom fit seat covers were included when I purchased the truck. They fit great and look true to the 1980s vibe of the truck.
-All glass is in good shape and windows roll up and down properly. Windows have tint—which I really like. Windshield does not have any chips or cracks.
-Dash is in great shape! None of the cracks or splits that most 60s have.
-Aftermarket radio works just fine and looks to be a clean install. Needs a new pair of door speakers (front only—back doors have not been cut up).
-Has the original jack and jack accessories, but the tool bag is MIA.
-New custom fit Lloyd’s all weather floor mats for front and back - 7/16
-Custom fit windshield sunshade – 7/16
-All gauges and interior lights work properly.
-Heater (front and rear) works great.
-AC does work and blows cold, but it’s not quite as cold as it should be. Could likely just use a little refrigerant charge.
-Horn works intermittently. I planned on doing the .22 casing trick.

Generally, this thing is CLEAN with only minor issues. Please PM or email bmschmitt at gmail dot com.
