1987 VW Westfalia - What's it worth?

My brother is looking at a 1987 VW Westy (Non-Syncro) with 56K original miles. It's the full camper style.

Overall very clean with low miles - What's it worth?
Located in SoCal

thanks

I'll bet the asking price is over $10k, might not be a bad investment. Nothing else like it on the road...

A lot of $$ to have tied up in a 20yr. old car. If you want to make a lowball offer, $6500.

I've been looking for one as well. I have to agree with the last post, they seem to be floating around the 10k range. Syncro vans seem to be 20k and up.

Thanks for the insight. Any special Pros/Cons with that year?

my dad has a westy of that vintage. He's been offered between $16-18,000.00 for it.

The details:

-full westy conversion with nice interior
-Like-new tent material replacement
-rebuilt motor by GoWesty
-New bodywork and dark grey paint job
-New seals/glass/trim all around where needed
-New radio with many speakers
-larger wheels and lower profile (not ghetto-style) tires
-Steel safari bumpers front and rear.
-etc, etc...lots of stuff I probably don't know about.

He's considered the offers, but has ended up NOT selling in the past, but he's got his fj80 now, so we'll see...haha!
