1988 Toyota 4runner Turbo diesel 1KZ-TE
This is a 1KZ-TE 3.0 liter Turbo diesel conversion from a Japanese 1996 hilux/surf. The front clip was imported to Phoenix AZ, and all of the electronics, engine, trans and transfer case were installed with dual yellow top batteries. Interior is new, and body is nice. It has 16" late model 4runner rims with Goodyear MTR's. tires are at 40%
The 4runner has a 1" body lift.
It has a lunch box locker in the rear.
The 4runner drives good, cruise and ac work, all factory gauges work along with 4wd indicator
Factory sun roof with sun shade
tach does not work

I just put a new OME 2"kit on with heavy rear springs for the rear bumpber/tire carrier I was planning on building. its the full kit with new torsion bars in front and shocks all around, I also put on brand new upper control arms with new bushings and ball joints while putting on the OME kit. I also put some new small parts and a brand new 3 core alum radiator.

AC works, but I have a NIB condenser, and NIB dryer along with r134 conversion kit ready to go with it.

it does need a new alignment due to the lift, but I am not putting anymore money in it.

It is currently registered and titled as a diesel in Utah. I know these are in oregon also

I'm selling it because I couldn't get Nevada to register it because of the diesel. California will have the same issue.

SOLD!

This is an issue with Nevada being unwilling to register any vehicle with a motor swap not originally intended for the US market. It is not only diesel motors but any JDM motor and probably any european as well. I was willing to purchase a Subie STI rally car with a JDM motor and they told me absolutely no as well.

Yep.....It was sad.. at the emissions lab I showed them that everything is connected including CEL etc...the guy a had me pop the hood and you could tell he had NO idea what he was looking at..I had to SHOW him where the motor number was, then he said ok..and didn't even bother to check it,YET they MADE me spend $60.00 to have a machine shop say what engine was in it.....
then when he could not find it in his book he said no go....The truck runs better than the 3.0 gasser that it replaced, and this engine is put into small delivery trucks ALL over the rest of the world including FZJ80 and FZJ100..and it gets 4-5 mpg better than my 98 3.4 runner and diesel is still 60 cents cheaper a gallon....

so much for saving energy LOL..

sad thing was I could of lied and told them it was a 2.4L TD that was offered in the USA. engine is very close in appearance.
