1988 Toyota Custom Camper ???????

Guys I'm thinking about picking this up. I wanted the input of some seasoned expediters on here. He custom made the 3rd axle and added a refrigerated truck box. Its clean and it looks like he did a good job. But I'm worried about that motor towing that weight under load and the stability of the truck.

What engine does it have? (88 was first year for 3VZE V6, but it might have the 4cylinder.)
How much does it weigh?
Have you driven it?

If it is a 22R or 22RE 4cylinder, then at 80K miles, it's good for another reliable 200K... but you won't get there fast. 22R is <100 hp.
The V6 was 150 hp, is more complicated to maintain/repair, and has a reputation for headgasket problems.

I say test drive it and see how it goes... take it to a hilly area if you have some and take it up the longest and steepest hill you can find.

Heck, just the box on the back if it's pretty nice on the inside would be a good candidate to throw on the back of a first gen tacoma frame. :elkgrin:

I don't think I'm seeing dualies on that. I'm seeing a double axle, but not dualies.

Look for a domestic fullsize 3/4 ton or bigger for hauling around something that big. Your mileage and maintenance costs will be better that way.
