Sorry for the dumb question. I have now test driven two mid 90's econoline vans with the 5.8 engine. They both performed the same taking off from a stop. Both seemed loud in 1st and 2nd gear to me. Just engine loud, not the transmission itself. No slippage or hard shifts. I do know the second one has a 3:55 rearend. No tach's, so not sure rpms. Is there a simple explanation ? 2nd van well taken care of by an older gentleman with very good service records. He is the second owner and said that is the way it has operated since he bought it.
