1991 Chevy Suburban V2500 LS Swap & Stuff

Well I've lingered around on the forums for a long time admiring lots of build and so i figured since i finally have the rig i wanna build that i would share the entertainment with you guys. So its a 1991 Chevy Suburban V2500 and was a total mess when i first got it. It was originally the 6.2 diesel and 4l80e trans but the 6.2 was in bad shape but i threw a old used LS 5.3 and crappy thrown together exhaust and some temp fuel line and drove her home. Its a bare bones manual lock and window truck along with a heater only option with AC Add on at one point. The Ultimate goal is to build a nice family friendly Suburban to go camping and taking the boat to the lake. I don't really have any pics to post, but here is a link to a quick video i made to give a good overview of the truck.


i haven't posted to forum in years so trying to get familiar with the picture posting the correct way but i will have some posted soon!

Here is a overall picture of the burb. I’ve got big plans for this one. This weekend I’m going to pull the motor, front core support and gut all the wiring since the wiring is a mess in this burb. I’m going to fully rewire the truck with a universal painless harness and add a few circuits for some extra stuff like USB port for mobile charging, I also want to add a few extra lights for the exterior along with the rear of the interior. And another big electrical add on will be the inverter and separate battery bank for camping usage.

That is the best of the best of the square body suburbans with the one year only 4l80E and right side drop 32 spline 241 transfer case. With lots of heavy duty factory parts as well as aftermarket you can make it pretty much anything you want on a decent budget.

Great start. I'm a fan of anybody keeping a squarebody on the road.

You noted it had an add on a/c unit in the truck when you got it. I've got an add on a/c unit we pulled from another 91 Blazer that used a separate evaporator case/blower motor and the stock heater box was still used. I'm wondering if the setup you pulled was similar. I'm also wondering if you still have any of the parts on the engine side, hoses, condenser, dryer or anything else. The one we pulled from was wrecked in the front end so most of that stuff in my setup got hammered or were missing by the time we got to it.
