*Serious Offers Encouraged!*

I am selling my 1993 Mitsubishi Delica Exceed, which I have owned for 7 years. Imported to Canada in 2011, I purchased it in 2018 from a dealer and have driven it approximately 60,000 miles (mostly on highways) since then. I believe I’m the second North American owner. The van is located in Portland, Oregon.

Factory equipment: 4x4 with selectable transfer case (4-lo, 4-hi), dual batteries, cold-weather package, Crystal Lite roof, and VLSD rear diff. This is a July 1993 production, featuring the updated 4D56T turbo-diesel engine with a water-cooled turbocharger.

The van has undergone extensive rectification to address common issues and enhance reliability, structural integrity, and drivability. Delicas with Crystal Lite Roofs from this era are all prone to significant rusting issues due to Mitsubishi's manufacturing processes. Basically, the adhesive that bonds the interior skin to the roof fails and starts to rust from the inside out. I spent 4 months resolving this issue by cutting out the bad metal, welding in new sheet metal, and having the roof professionally bedlined by a reputable company in Redmond, Oregon. No leaks, no hidden rust. While I was at it, I fully stripped the interior, cleaned everything, treated the ceiling with a rust inhibitor, sound-deadened every surface (including CLD tiles), and rebuilt it with a custom and dialed-in 12V house battery setup. I removed the rattling crystal Lite shades; Reflectix panels do the job instead. I installed puck lighting to replace the factory fluorescent lights, and installed a Maxxfan for ventilation. It did everything I could to reuse interior panels, and even maintained the rear air vents.. Rebuild photos here:

Driving

The van runs smoothly with strong compression. It has a cold idle adjusted to idle high for cold starts, and despite some smoke, it always warms up to a smooth idle. A Portland Delica mechanic even called it “fast” compared to others, though anyone familiar with these knows what that means. It cruises comfortably at 60–65 mph, returns 18–24 mpg depending on the terrain, and climbs passes at 35–45 mph. I drive it with gauges and never push it past safe temps.

Condition

It’s 32 years old. Expect minor dents, chips, and some wear and tear. There’s a dent in the passenger sliding door, and some scratches just behind the door. The seats are torn in places, and the interior sliding door panel has a small tear on the upper left corner. The factory temperature gauge works intermittently, and the neutral light doesn’t illuminate. That’s why the accurate water-temperature gauge is there. Nothing structural or worrying. Ready to drive or build further. I have a complete record of all services performed on the van, the title is clear, and it’s ready to go.
