Went and looked at a quigley converted e350 today. This has high miles, junk tranny, no wheels and was beat on.. Has a 12ft box thats been ripped apart.. the good is the frame looks great!!
Whats this thing worth?

I saw one listed on Craigslist for $2250 in western MA with a bad tranny. Is that the one you mean?? I think it was a pretty good deal, for someone with skills and time. If it is rusty maybe not such a good deal.
If the frame and suspension is solid go for it!!

Ya thats the one.. just went and looked at it..frame is solid. Needs everything but the frame... was thinking of using it for parts for my 1991 to convert to 4x4 but not sure they will work

I believe that the vans changed a lot in 92 so it may not work for that. Did all of the suspension parts look good. Maybe you could put a 92 or newer van body on it or fix the tranny and Run it as an ambo. It is most likely setup as a dually.

Ya the frame suspension look great..thats about all that looks good..
If I were to buy it I think id rebuild the motor and the tranny...then would need to swap another cab on it..not sure its worth it or if I want that big of a project before I even start the camper conversion..

I may have a cab available for you.
I'm not sure. I have a 94 minimod that I am going to use the box from.
I may make a flatbed out if the remaining part. If not the cab could be available.
I don't think that the tranny that I have in the minimod is the same since it is a 94 and has the idi 7.3.

Let me know if you get that thing. It will pretty much be a twin of my ambo once I get the box on. Although my box is not as wide.

I saw that one but the front axle is a dana 44. Kinda small for my rig..trying to decide if its worth the trouble doing a 4x4 conversion or just run with 2wd

I was hopeful about that ambulance too and have been trying to work with that Benny guy in mass for weeks. He has done nothing but jerk me around. At one point he was openly messing with me saying he would take 100$ for the other ambulance he is selling.

Maybe it would be worth it to flat bed it out and strip the quigley conversion before scrapping it...

I emailed back and forth but never made a trip to see it. I hope someone does something with it other than the junkyard!!!
Sounds like it at least runs. I have the exact same frame suspension and drive train on mine.
Mine has 46k miles so I don't think any of the parts on that would be useful to me at this point.
If one of you buys it I might be interested in the clear and amber lenses on the box.

I'm sure some one with time and space could resurrect it!!

I'm entirely too fed up with that guy at this point to drive out for it. I have another I am planning on looking at and possibly taking home closer to the Canadian border. Not a 4x4, but I want to get myself at least started soon so I have a backcountry skiing rig for the winter.

If the price wasn't too high I would pounce on the 4x4 van style ambulance listed on Long Island.

That van style ambulance has been posted for a while. He might be willing to negotiate.
Just make sure it is not rusty. Rust killed my 2000 quigley here on LI!!
I really want to prevent it on my current quigley ambo.

He is pretty firm on his price. I don't think he is really that motivated to sell it. I wouldn't be either! I'm totally torn over waiting on the chance that another 4x4 ambulance shows up for a realistic price, or pulling the trigger and saving up for a conversion. Thoughts? Where are you finding these quigleys?

The advantage to getting an ambulance and converting it later. Is that you can find the ambulance that you want. The already converted ones are not abundant so you pretty much get what you get.
My original plan was to convert mine to 4x4 with the ujoint kit. I wanted a srw mini-mod as the base but I kind of jumped the gun. I got impatient and got one with the idi motor.
It's a great motor, but after driving the powerstroke version I found I preferred it to the point that I did not want to put the money into converting the idi ambulance.
So I started to search for a powerstroke mini-mod. All the ones that I found had extremely high miles or were not mini-mods and had wide boxes (drw).
Eventually I came across a 4x4 cab and chassis with a powerstroke motor and low miles (It is the older less desirable 7.3 powerstroke). So far I am happy with it. It had a pretty bad fuel leak when I got it, but that us all taken care of now.
I hunted for a 4x4 ambulance for awhile. They are not easy to find.
There is one listed upstate ny but it is a bit pricey!!
If you are in a rush i would say your best bet would be to find a great 2wd ambulance with everything you want and convert it later. I guess it depends on how important 4wd is for you in the short term. Finding a really good 2wd 7.3 ambulance for a reasonable price is definitely possible.
Good luck with your search
Post pictures once you get something!!
