Looking to import a Mercedes doca firetruck in USA/Canada…Many local mechanics warned me against it saying that parts are almost impossible to source and I can be stranded in a small town for months…..
Any data on this?

The deal on Mercedes truck parts: North America probably is the worst place to source MB truck parts, North America also has the best courier/delivery in the world. Parts import is fast and simple. Worst case scenario is probably a week delivery time from Europe.
There are a number of shops in the US and Canada with most parts on the shelf. You will get to know them. Filters can be ordered on Amazon, any part can be ordered on line.

My friend has put well over 100,000 miles on his southern California based '78 MB1017A without any real part issues. He always plans a stop in Colorado at Terry Lee Enterprises during his travel for maintenance and upgrades. They are also a great parts source.
