Relieved eporter of his Mini Mod last weekend and got right to work picking up where he left off. I drove the ambo back to Seattle from Portland, and about half way up had enough confidence in the ambo to overtake my boyfriend who was in my Subaru and get her home with no problems!
I checked out tmo2460's tear down thread since he has the same flavor of ambulance - but decided to do a little exploratory surgery myself.
There is definitely some wasted space around the cabinets. But at the moment I cant think of anything else I'd rather do with them. I'm not in love with the idea of having a kitchen in the ambo so the only think I can think of that would require (partial) removal of the cabinets would be if I wanted to build dinette/bed across the back.
For now they stay.
I did want to open up the space behind the passenger seat so I can put a swivel on that thing. I like the sink but can't think of where else I'd put it without getting in the way of the passenger seat. I think I am going to build it in to whatever I decide for an outdoor kitchen module.
Of course there's this furry jerk that is quite accustomed to looking out the window when we travel. He's also missing a hind leg so I might have to get creative with making space for him where he will be safe and supported. Higher on my priority list than I'd like to admit. The things we do for dogs.
