I’ll start with pricing at $65,000, not a lot of comps for this one, all reasonable offers will be considered. Original build thread here – https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/ambovan-restarted.63380/. I purchased the base ambulance in 2010 w/~85k miles, its sitting at 213k at this writing. I had a good run the last 15 years after quitting work too early, and getting in a lot of Skiing/Sailing/Biking, and building a lot of cool stuff, including this vehicle. Haven’t been using it very much the last couple years, primarily to an RV park in Puerto Penasco, Mexico for a couple 10 day stretches each spring and fall – Kinda overkill for that. Hard to make it stick when ‘retiring’ at age 45, and I’m starting back to work full time in June. Unless somebody snatches it up before then, I plan on being at Expo Flagstaff in May. Target audience! Makes me sad if I think about it too much, but time to get this moved along. Too much to include everything and keep the ad copy reasonable, but I’ll hit the highlights.
1997 E350 Ambulance UJOR 4x4 conversion. 7.3 diesel, 4”exhaust. KC Stage 1 turbo. DP tuner, +20 setting. At some point, everything that bolts to the engine that whirls or spins or sucks or pumps or blows has been replaced. New transmission, heavy duty torque converter, billet intermediate internal shaft. Mag-Hytec transmission pan. Transmission cooler sized for a dump truck, I want to say 40kBTU? Mounted on roof rack with thermostat controlled fan – has to be really hot outside for the fan to kick on. New starter batteries, Optima Red Top. 55 gallon aft fuel cell. Frame mounted fuel pump and filters. Regulated fuel return, gage in cab.
Dana 60 front axle, UJOR hi-steer, UJOR trac bar, custom shock mounts, custom shocks from ADS. Hydro steering ram from Red Neck ram, run off hydraulic taps on a Red Head PS box. Spyn-Tec Spindle kit to replace the unit bearings. Mile Marker Hubs. Dynatrac heavy duty ball joints. Stainless Steel Brake Company discs and calipers. Sway bar. Mag-Hytec diff cover. 4.88 gears. True-Trac diff.
Dana 80 disk brake rear end. Stazworks custom 19.5 wheels, Toyo M608Z tires, 285/75/R19.5. Load range H, 6395# capacity. (6) Wheels/Tires total. I ran it as duals for a while, sitting on singles now. Heavy custom atlas springs, with a couple additional leafs from a local shop. Custom spring mounts. Very custom rear track bar system. Airbags, run to controls in the cab. (although enough steel spring now that the bags are not really required, I add a little air when towing). Sway bar. Custom rear shock mounts. ADS shocks. Mag-Hytec diff cover. 4.88 gears. True-Trac diff.
Custom sliders and rear bumper. Plated frame. Custom roof rack, 120 v AC mount, custom aluminum ducting. Light mount. Transmission cooler on rack as well. Needs a front bumper/winch mount, had a couple of aluminum bumpers fail from flex at the horns. Currently has 2 UJOR frame supports, welded to the frame horns and to the UJOR spring perches below. Keeps the spring hangars stable under the hydro steer load. Warn 16.5 winch included.
Hannibal free standing awning, 2 meter size. Biggest I could fit and still reach it
~10 gallon propane tank, from an RV doner vehicle. Custom mount in a side compartment.
(2) 4d sized house batteries, new. 280 watt house solar panel, Tristar MPPT charge controller, Xantrex 2000 watt inverter/charger. BlueSea automatic charging relay for house/vehicle batteries, with switch run inside the cab. Starts with authority when all 4 batteries are joined. All house 12 and 120 volt systems run inside the ambulance electrical compartment, supplemental 12v vehicle systems run to central cabinet as well.
Warn Air-power compressor. Will run an impact wrench for tire changes. Hummer jack. Many tools/spares. Recovery gear including Hi-Lift Extreme jack, lots of shackles, a couple big pulleys, recovery straps, kinetic recovery rope (most useful piece in the kit)
Pioneer Multimedia receiver. Satellite receiver. Back up camera tied into head unit. JL Audio HD750/1 monoblock sub amp, HD600/4 amp for Mid/Hi speakers. Focal Mids/tweets in the doors, wired for a second set of mids behind cab. JL 10” Sub in custom center console box. My Iphone phone updated a year or so back, and wouldn’t talk to the head unit anymore, annoying. XM receiver works great, but you may have to update the head unit.
Custom ‘topper’ to extend internal headroom to 6’-6”. Ambulance fixtures reused, with LED bulbs. Marine slider windows. MaxxFan vent mounted on back surface. Sliding bed support extension, allows a queen size sleeping surface. The wide ambulance box allows sleeping across the back, dramatically increasing usable interior space compared to a Sportmobile-type setup.
Kitchen box including cookware, cups, plates, utensils, and a Cook Partner stove. Engle Top loading fridge with a full extension slide. 26 gallon water tank, sink and water pump. Cold water only. No holding tank, sink direct discharge to exterior. Includes a fancy homer bucket for the outflow! Lagun marine table leg system.
9800BTU HeatSource heater. I’ve had it in -10, heater cycles on low setting, holds 55* at lowest setting. 120 volt RV ac mounted on the cab roof rack, custom aluminum ducting to house area. Spray foam insulation in the entire house module.
Many extras included with sale – extra hood and doghouse, extra spare tire/wheel, and an espar diesel coolant pre-heater, lots of small bits in bins. Selected photos below, lots more available. Reply here, or message me, but definitely send a text 5two0-95five-2seven6nine. Does that really work for thwarting bots? Donno, but I will be on my phone/not computer for much of the next month, and a text is the best way to let me know I have a question.
