Greetings yall,

DSCF6432.jpg

First post here on the forum after years of reading and learning from this community. Over the last two years, I have spent too many hours building this little camper for my 1998 Fuso FG (procured through this forum's classified section). The intent was to build a camper that is designed for surfing and skiing up here in the Pacific North West, currently based in Tacoma, WA.

The camper is primarily made out of wood, mainly cedar and birch plywood of different thicknesses. The exterior cedar strips were burned to a crisp black to protect the wood and for the style.

I am still working on the final trim pieces and some small punch list items but I figured it's time to share. Hope you all enjoy and thanks for all the informative content on here.

It has made its first successful adventure around Vancouver Island a month ago, felt like a big moment.

If you have any questions about the build feel free to reach out or check out my IG @rightlanefever.

Cheers and thanks again,
Julian

Czechsix

Watching you from a ridge. In Alaska. I'm cold.
Unique builds are always nice to see, as long as they're done well. Looks like you succeeded with this one.

Congrats. 👍

What kind of finish did you use to protect the exterior?

@SkiFreak thank you, I actually haven't weighed the final camper, I am assuming including the truck Ill be sitting less than 9000lbs. We lifted the camper before the interior onto the truck with 8 people relatively easily.

@Czechsix Appreciate it, I think it turned out decent enough, lots of things I would like to do differently but thats on everything I build. As @SkiFreak mentioned I used the Shou Sugi Ban technique and then applied a tung oil. Ill have to reapply every year. The waterproofing aspect is a rubber self-healing adhesive underlayment beneath the siding.

Cheers
