1998 montero Second (rear) seat fold troubles

To "tumble forward" the 2nd row, it takes a firm, fast, single motion to get the cable and interior locks to release, assuming the cable isn't broken.

Move your seat belts out of the way, reach back and pull up on the latch behind the seat back, then with a reasonable quick motion fold the seat back forward/flat and be prepared to continue the "tumble" by quickly grabbing the rear of the seat bottom and lifting it toward the front seat, tumbling the folded assembly forward.

I thought sure my cable/s were broken, but read a post in the Aussie forum, went out, gave the "smackdown" method a try and it worked! If you are successful, there is a red plastic lock on the riser bar that will have to be pressed in to re-close (lower) the seat.

The second row there is a pull lever next to the head rest, if yours is not working properly try pushing down on the seat and then pull the lever it should help.

Not sure , I was able to explained it correctly, it does fold down 90 degree , however I want to push it forward so it stands against front seats ,so I can remove back carpet.
