bump- brief inspection

Just happened to see this one on the street while out on an errand.

Owner wasn't available to show but looked to be in good condition.

not a UNICAT; at least a few things that could be upgraded- generator is low end off-brand, external wiring that is basicly solid but could be tidied up, etc.- but a great truck if bought at the right price.

not mine, no affiliation, etc.

Definitely a 4 cylinder and an automatic.

The auto trannies are pretty soild but I know I'd take the 5 speed if given the choice (new ones have a standard 5 speed auto and available 6 speed manual!).

The longevity of the four cylinder in this truck is pretty hard to guess. Probably up to at least 300k mi. but only if it's been well cared for.

Really hard to evalute the price- if the motor is solid, it's pretty good. Unless you really like the layout and wanted to transfer the box to another truck, I doubt the scrap value is over $3k without the motor. NPR motors arn't cheap.

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
I have one of the NPR 5 speeds lying around if need be. Came from a cabover truck 4 cyl that we installed into a Land Cruiser. The 4cyls are awesome. By then it should be electronically controlled, intercooled, and very powerful. The early 4 cyls suffer from lack of turbo only. We bolted on a later 4BD-2T turbo onto the 1T and it woke it up drastically, night and day. Better mileage as well. I love how easy it is to wake up a diesel, especially when direct injected..
