2000 4Runner DD Build

So I have had this 4Runner for a while now as my daily driver. I just recently started modifying it a little bit.. I just can't seem to help myself.

It had some basic stuff to start, coil spacer, OME coils in the back, K&N intake, upgraded clutch.

This is when I first got the truck about a year ago.

I needed a RTT since I camp a lot instead of driving home..

Bought a crap load of Thule fit kits, foot packs and cross bars. Mounted an Eezi-Awn 1200.

Now I needed to power the fridge, which was also a required item for my daily activities. To do that I needed a good mounting platform in the rear of the vehicle:

  • Odyssey 2150 "Trolling Thunder" battery
  • Billet Aluminum hold down for 2150
  • Xantrex Freedom HF 1000 Inverter/Charger
  • High quality sanded birch plywood
  • ARB 47 Fridge Freezer
  • ARB Sliding Tray
  • ARB Transit Bag

What clutch did you install? I have a TRD sitting in my garage somewhere or I was thinking about getting another Marlin Crawler.

Nice! I just ordered a set of Duratracs myself. I'm hoping they are worth the $996 I paid for them.:Wow1:

Why am I not outside?
Did you feel it was completely necessary to have 4 crossbars for the RTT? Do you think you could have gotten by with only 2 or 3?

I could have used two. But the way I designed this, I can just release the foot packs and move the tent to any other vehicle with similar foot packs.

That is why we used a weather tight quick release on the electrical. The side lights and backup lights are mounted on the bottom of the tent.

Yeah I'm amazed by the work he put into the X, it certainly is an amazingly well thought out vehicle... As to the other stuff, the 3rd Gen 4Runner is a burly vehicle that's a far better build platform IMO. Toyotas are just better made (or rather were but then you guy's got H3-ish front diffs so...)

I've lived in OZ, I've seen what a REAL Nissan is and the stuff here just well... it's not that... I LOVE Troll Ute's and such but man I just don't get Nissan N.America's decisions sometimes... Toyotas aren't far off from the stupid mark either eh ;) they both have their problems...

Nice 4runner...

You really should put at least the stock skid up front, the entire underside of the radiator is fully exposed, and fragile, not being made of metal.

The stock skid is a joke of a skid, but it at least protects the radiator from flying debris.
