So I just received word that my sister is giving me her runner for free! It's got less than 130k miles on it and has been taken pretty good care of. Only 2 issued that concern me-a quick lube place installed a "temporary plug" in the oil pan and the sunroof doesnt work and leaks. Would I need to replace the oil pan and if so is it a pita to do on these 4runners? Anything else I need to look out for? Thanks in advance

Did they just lose the original plug? If that's the case just pick up a new one and call it good.

There's a TSB out on the fuel gauge and sending unit. So if the fuel guage acts funny that's probable why. Check the lower ball joints as well.

Im not exactly sure what happened with the oil plug, I'm hoping I don't need a new oil pan. Thanks for the TSB info-this will def be one of the first things I take care of.

Sometimes a leaking sunroof is caused by a clogged drain tube. Check the seal around the glass. Watch out for the pink milkshake issue but there's another thread about 3gen issues. Careful of the brakes, some of us feel they are weak.
