SOLD!
Hey everyone. I never really intended to sell this XJ ("Henry"), but I'm expecting a job offer that will take me to a very car-unfriendly place. I'm trying to get as many things off my plate as I can, and a 3rd vehicle is an easy place to start. Consequently, the Jeep is mid-project on a couple things. I've kept the price low and added the roof top tent to compensate for that. Located in Atlanta, GA.
2000 Jeep Cherokee
4.0L, auto
121,500 miles
Advanced Adapters SYE and Tom Woods shafts front and rear
Aussie lockers, front and rear
4.56 gears
Dana 44 rear end
5.5" Rubicon Express lift (new shocks less than 1000 miles ago)
Ironman adjustable control arms and track bar
33x12.5x15 BFG Mud Terrains. Fronts are maybe 50%, Rears are new with less than 300 miles on them.
Rock sliders that extend about 8" inboard
Full engine skidplate (uninstalled)
Rusty's gas tank skidplate
Rusty's heavy duty tie rod, and a spare HD tie rod (might be an Ironman piece, not sure)
Custom front winch bumper with...
Warn XD9000i winch
Warn rear bumper and tire carrier, with custom gas can mount
I initially bought this Jeep to take on a 2-week trip out west. In my search I looked for something very specific: a Jeep that was capable enough that I'd never get stuck, banged up enough on the outside that I wouldn't mind picking up some Texas pinstriping, and clean enough on the inside that I wouldn't mind pulling 400 mile days. As you'll see in the pictures, that's exactly what I found.
Like I said, I'm mid project on a couple things. I've slowly used the Jeep less and less, and I reached a decision point. Do I make this more trail oriented and cage it, or do I make it more comfortable so I can toss my kid in the back seat and spend a day in the woods? It being a 3rd vehicle, this wasn't a pressing question, but now I'm faced with needing to sell it and can't control the timing. Current flaws/issues with the XJ include:
-No cargo-area carpet (pictured). All other areas are carpeted.
-No radio. It was stolen, and I got some grand ideas about building a tablet into the space. Haven't managed to make progress there. New rear speakers, though.
-Standard 2000-2001 hot start misfire. The fix is a fuel pump with an improved check valve, but I haven't wanted to drop the tank to do it yet. It goes away with a few blips of the throttle.
-Transfer case weeps a bit, like they all do. It bugs me though. Haven't managed to pull it off and re-seal it yet.
-Tires are probably flat spotted a bit after sitting so much. When everything is nice and balanced and the driveshafts are recently greased, it will cruise at 80-85 on the highway easily.
-Exterior has some dents and scrapes, and the paint isn't wonderful. I bought it this way so I wouldn't mind adding my own dents and scrapes.
Also included is my RTT and Yakima roof rails (pictured). I'm at least the 3rd owner and I've had it for ~4 years. Some of the plastic strap pieces for the rain fly have become brittle or snapped off. This is solved with some bungie cords that are also included.
Also also included are my hi-lift and recovery strap kit. I feel like this is a great vehicle to own in the South East because you can toss the tent on and go just about anywhere. Take the tent off and there aren't many trails this thing won't climb. It's perfect for multipurpose if you'd like to use the same vehicle to hit trails as you do camping. We even did all of Fins N Things in Moab fully loaded with 2 weeks of gear and the tent.
$4,000 SOLD!
Priced to sell easily, and with no negotiation. I'm really not looking forward to losing this vehicle, so the less I have to think about it the better.
Here's the pics. Apologies for not cleaning the car. Yardwork and pollen hitting Atlanta mean the outside is dirtier than normal and I haven't had time to wash it. The next time I do, I'll update the pics accordingly.

From our trip out west. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in the Jeep and do this again tomorrow.
It's not perfect, but this is a well used and well cared for Cherokee. If you're looking for a creampuff, this definitely isn't your vehicle and it's priced accordingly. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll answer them as best I can. This weekend (3/28-29) is very busy for me, but I'll try to reply as quickly as I can. Thanks!
