I am selling my wonderful James Cook. First things first: it has very little rust, all the neuralgic points are in perfect health, the Sprinter has had its cavity completely preserved. It has air conditioning, a differential lock at the rear, window lifts, etc. It is almost fully equipped. The conversion to all-wheel drive with the help of a donor vehicle (the donor's letter is included) has been approved by the TÜV, and of course it also has reinforced front brakes based on the Iglhaut model. As part of the conversion, the Sprinter was converted to a manual transmission (it is possible to convert to all-wheel drive and automatic, all the parts for this are still available and can be purchased). The all-wheel drive and lock work, the Sprinter will have its oil and filter changed again before it is handed over.
All the fittings work as they should, the James Cook has already had a new shower tray from Manfred Ermel. The seam on the high roof has been renewed as a preventative measure.

Even if the condition is above average, it is an old car with the risks of an old car. I have owned the James Cook since 2016 and am only parting with it now because I have a new project.

Two more words about pricing: the price is now fixed and more than reasonable in today's market. The wheels mounted in the pictures have not yet been registered and are therefore not included in the offer. Please just come by and have a look at the car, take it for a test drive and then decide. Because there have been some inquiries about the mileage of the front axle differential - like the donor car, it has done around 320,000 km - I can have it overhauled if you wish, provided the buyer covers the costs.

1 more year and it can be legally imported into the USA.
What is the standing height?
Does it have a generator (diesel) and bathroom?
Is it AWD or 4x4 and does it have any abs or traction control issues?

Thanks

Its around 340cm tall.
Generators were added to US imported Airstream versions, in Europe generators at RVs are very rare.
This is switch engagable 4x4.
No issues with abs/traction controls.

I believe the 340cm is the total height of the exterior. (From the ground to the roof)
Can you tell me the interior height?
How tall can someone be standing inside of it?

Is it a Mercedes factory 4x4 system or a conversion and does it have portable axles or locking differentials?

Thank you

Hey,

floor to roof is probably 250cm, when inside, average height person wont be able to touch the ceiling. Average meaning around 175-180cm.

The 4x4 is Oberaigner system which is most popular 4x4 system installed on sprinter vans. Sprinters with Oberagner system are sold to wide public, those 4x4's in the US now are Oberaigners as well. Mercedes does not make its own 4x4 systems for sprinters, they send the vans to 3 or 4 companies.
Oberaigner is the most popular and the most of the 4x4 sprinters are converted by them.
There are few niche ones, Achleiner, Iglhaut, Mantra. these are rarer and the cost much more than Oberaigner. They are also more hardcore and used for specialized vehicles installed at special orders.

Anyways. This one came out from factory as a 2x4 with rear lock differential, then the whole engageable 4x4 Oberaigner system was removed from another van and installed on this one.
So you can say this is Mercedes factory 4x4 system, swapped from other van to this one. Plug and play. Approved by TUV technician and registered in Germany. To have the the TUV technician stamp ok on your inspection paper he needs to confirm that all the parts are dedicated for particular vehicle, they go by part number, part by part. I think this is most rigorous inspection system in Europe. For example they would check the numbers on the rims, you cant put any fitting rims on a car. They have to be manufacturer dedicated for it.

So, lock on the rear axle, engageable 4x4 - two buttons for this and that.

Thanks.
