2001 4runner - easy rear seat fix?

some of you may know that I recently sold the Grand Cherokee and purchased the 4runner. The other day I had to run to the lumber yard and I needed to put the back seats down for more room. I was able to get the passenger side down no problem, but the drivers side would not release. Is there something I should look for? maybe a broken cable of some sort? something I am missing? maybe a magic voo doo chant?
Thanks for the assist,
Roger

hmmm. Odd.
As long as the seat bottoms are down I can't think of a reason the back of the seat wouldn't fold down...
Are the front seat, seat backs in the way?

it seems as though when I pull on the release, it is not allowing the cable actuator to release the seat bottom. It has been raining for almost three weeks straight here. once it clears up, I will check to see if something is either in the way or if the cable itself is frayed.

My passengers side is always tough to get to release. I'll take a look tonight and see why, but if I were to guess, I'd guess the latch on the bottom is bent enough to prevent thepull from releasing easily. Maybe try putting your knee in the seat while pulling on the handle and see if that releases it.
