2001 Dodge 2500, Diesel, 5 Speed, 4wd, DFW, TX

Well guys and gals, it's time to sell my truck.

I never thought I'd be doing this, but the day has come.

Up for sale is my 2001 Dodge 2500. It has the extended cab, with the opening rear doors (well, door, but more on that later), the 8ft longbed, four wheel drive, the infamous Cummins B series 5.9 L diesel engine, and an NV4500 5 speed manual transmission!

You may be wondering why my list price is fairly high for a seemingly stock truck, but you will soon find why.

Listing price locally is $14,900, but for expo members I'll do $14,500.

1WEEK PRICE DROP. $13,000 for Expo members.

When I purchased this vehicle, I knew I was going to drive it till the wheels fell off, I'd put em back on, and keep going till the fell off again.

Over the years, I have built, maintained, and have basically taken care of this truck with the full intent of having a reliable daily driver to get me into town, and to take me to the rarely traveled lands of the North, South, and Central Americas. I had the oil changed every 5,000 miles, and typically before then. Running byu factory specs, I replaced every wear part at every correct interval per factory recommendation, at great expense. The only part that has truly failed me before I performed the recommended maintenance, was the dang track bar.

285,000 miles, but keep some reading if you don't mind.

Let's talk the good, and the bad.

The Bad: This is a working truck. It has a couple dings, and some Texas pinstripes. The driver's seat has a tear (but with seat covers who cares), and the center seat has a small circular hole in it, that has roughly 1/4" diameter. The windshield is cracked across the right side, but it still passed inspection a week ago, and it doesn't hinder view. The rear door on the drivers door only open 5% of the time. It's a $2.50 and 30 minute fix, bit it hasn't bothered me since I never use it. Dodge dash. If you've seen 2nd gen Cummins trucks, you know of the issue. Hence the carpet cover.

The Good: I hope you have some time, or at least a couple beers.

I have spent a LOT on the upkeep of this vehicle during the time I have owned it. Part of the reason why is parts cost, the other is labor. I have no qualms about working on my own GASOLINE engines, but diesel stuff is a whole nother story. Throughout the time I have owned it, I have ONLY had the truck's maintenance and repairs done at CUMMINS certified service centers, with the work performed by certified diesel engine technicians. Yes, I seriously vetted every technician that worked on my truck. NEVER any "mechanics," "shade tree techs," or any regular diesel engine shop. ONLY Cummins certified centers.

So, for the good, I figured I'd list out the past few maintenance items. If you know diddly about engines, you will appreciate the information.

Mods: Intake, and exhaust. This truck has never seen any compounds, levers, tabs, buttons, or chips .... except for the occasional Doritios or Tostitos ... maybe Fritos. No bs aftermarket crap ever.

There's Texas pinstripes, and there's pecking on the rocker panels from all of the gravel road. My truck has a couple dents and scratches, and it doesn't have tow mirrors (haha).

IF you're even attempting to look for a Dodge like this, you're not doing it for the aesthetics. You're looking for a truck like this because you know you need something that will get the job done. That's why I bought it. I wanted the most bulletproof diesel system on the market, so it would loyally carry me through the dangerous remoteness of the Alaskan wilderness, the deserts of the other Americas, and the convoluted cement jungles of the society we dwell in.

You may ask yourself why I am selling this truck, and the reason is simple. A friend at the local dealership made me an offer I couldn't refuse. That is why I am letting my truck go.

If you have no intention of protecting your family in a safe heavy vehicle, if you don't want to see parts unknown, and if you have no desire to keep and maintain this engine as I have so, then this isn't the truck for you. I want somebody to undergo an exploration with this truck, as I have intended. I didn't do the bare min to keep this truck on the road, I wanted it to breathe and live the adventure as a second home.

So, if you TyP Lik dis, don't waste my time. I won't respond. If I feel you aren't serious, I won't respond.

If you don't bring cash, or a certified bank note for a pre-agreed upon amount, you're not driving it. You break it, you buy it applies here. I will not have my truck thrashed by some incompetent fool and be left with the bill.
If you can't drive a 5 speed, bring your mother, father, or someone who knows how. If they are under 21, no go.

If I think you cannot drive a manual during a test drive, you will be tossed from the drivers seat.

Thanks.
