2001 savanna 2500 new purchase questions

Been thinking about a camperized cargo van for a while now. My buddy had one he needed to get rid of and I picked it up for next to nothing. It's gone be a big project and I've got s few questions.

Eventual goal will be 4x4 conversion. Starting out I'll be fixing the damage to left side, motor swap, paint it white with black rocker guard along the lower and add a couple windows and insulate the interior.

It currently has a blown 5.0 in it. Finding one of these motor has proved difficult. Wondering if anyone has any tips on potential motor swaps? My buddy has done a few and is going to be helping me with the swap and wiring.

Also trying to figure out of its possible to swap the van body onto a 4x4 truck frame.

I like the red if it's in good condition. Price out a crate engine if you really like the van . If not I have a white 03 4x4 for sale locally for $13500

yeah i might keep the red. i like white vehicles though and if i paint it white with black bedliner lower it will match my tacoma. :sombrero:

im trying to do it on somewhat of a budget. only paid $200 for the van. its not going to be a daily or anything but would like it to be reliable. no plans to do a crate. was hoping to find a wrecked truck or van to either swap the frame to an awd with the motor and all that or just swap in a junkyard diesel and go from there.

id like to pick up your van but wont have 13k to drop on one for a while haha.

my family has a bodyshop so can get the bodywork/paint done relatively cheap.
