2003 Acura MDX Expedition/Daily Build!

We just sold our 2003 F250 5.4 4x4 single cab that we used as our business and weekend vehicle and it was getting 10 MPG at best. As we all know, gas prices are killing us and we drive close to 100+ miles daily. So do the math and you will see how much we are spending monthly, yeah it hurts!

So we decided to move on and find a vehicle that could handle going off road and also get descent gas mileage. Unfortunately the used market is ridiculous right now and who knows when it will go back to normal, if ever!! So after a few weeks of searching we found a one owner 2003 MDX, I know not what most people are thinking of a great platform to build what we intend, but hey let's be a little different.

Our goal, a SUV that can handle daily use and also double as a weekend warrior. It's a 2003 with 140k. Well maintained and taken care of. Timing belt was done at 110K. We plan on doing the HRG 1.5" lift, 245/65/17 Falken A/T Trail tires, Black steel wheels, Custom rear drawers system with 2 rifle mounts and full platform adapter to sleep on, full roof rack with platform or basket and Awning, 1100 watt power inverter.

I have quite a few other ideas and I will post as I complete each project.

So we have had the MDX for about 2 weeks and have done a few upgrades already. Here is a list of what has been completed so far...
Picked up the tires Falken A/T Trail 245/65/17 and some black steel wheels
Scored a great deal on a used Rola basket for $100
Installed a set of the Odyssey helper rear shocks
Started the rear drawer/platform setup, still have some work to do on it. With the rear drawer setup and all my tools, the helper shocks brought the rear right back up to stock height if not a little higher. I will also be carrying my TW200 on the back with a motorcycle carrier, so the helper shocks will definitely help when loaded with that also!
Ordered a Kreiger 1,100 watt power inverter and installation kit, love have the ability to hookup a fan or heater while at work or out camping! Here are a few pics of before and after the rear helper shocks.EFEEE74C-91D4-4905-B27E-5D007F7C54EC.jpegD83FFE91-7519-4090-97A1-81EB3DB94C5F.jpegD6D5D67A-0F5C-4252-9D34-776252355E0D.jpegDA6D3BFB-CD53-4E21-85BE-2C950DFBB92B.jpegD7AAF7F4-94B5-4C31-9910-BA0C36EA3F00.jpeg

Lookin good! Did you take out the third row, or is it still in there under the drawers? Seems like you could do something interesting with the space that would free up. Maybe access by removing a drawer completely?
